Think I'll cheer for Sweden and/or Finland since they both have Leafs prospects on their rosters (two for Sweden).

Way too many penalties by a very undisciplined Canadian team. Oh, well, congrats to Finland!

That hit on Nylander was brutal. Go Sweden!

I thought it definitely started slowly but improved with the scenes in the bar: loved the versions of I Saw the Light and Fairytale of New York w/ David Johansen, Jenny Lewis, Rashida Jones, etc.

I think Canada is gonna be in tough to repeat, with only four, maybe five(?), returning players from the Gold medal team. Looks like USA might be the team to beat this year, with next years' first overall pick, Auston Matthews, in the line-up.

Got the 3-lp box for my fifteenth birthday, so '80, showed my parents the Pied Piper catalogue and they sent away for it for me, bless 'em. I played it so many times. Isn't it supposed to be "Vicki Vinyl" (Idol Mind)'s voice you can hear on the non-Millard source or do I have that wrong?

Quotewith sssoul That I understand - what I was trying to ask was whether there's any advantage to playing an acoustic without a strap, apart from the show-off value. I don't think there's any advantage to it. The YCAGWYW is from one of the Ed Sullivan appearances, I believe, correct?

I still love Wilco but I'm with you, Naturalust, in that I prefer the old version of the band. Saw them three times with Jay, twice in '97 and once in '99, and those were my favourite Wilco shows, though they've been plenty fine when I've seen 'em since. The first three albums are my favourites as well but critical consensus seems to be that they peaked after that. I

Absolutely love it and can't quite put my finger on why. I guess it's a combination of the chord progression, Mick's great vocal, the lyrics and Keith's backing vox but it definitely has that Stones magic for me. "Wistful and positive at the same time"-that's a good way of describing it, Jah!

I'm with dcba, the first title that sprang to mind when I saw the subject of this thread was Jean Clarke...

This looks really fun, based on the trailer and the faux Dolls look pretty accurate, as you would expect from Scorsese. Certainly looks better than the CBGB's movie.

I first started mail ordering boots in '77, age 12, and the first couple were Elton John titles. First Stones was the 3-lp Tour of the Americas black box that I got my parents to buy me for my (14th, I think?) birthday. Then I discovered a store in town here in Victoria, Canada called Richard's that had tons of great boots at $4.99 a pop. Found Welcome to New York (have since had a t-sh

Quotestewedandkeefed Quoteeibert the vinyl bootleg that was mentioned, is that Around in a roundhouse on Mushroom Records? Is there really a cd/lp of the first gig, only van find that the second gig is mentioned and no information about the first one. Yes the vinyl boot was called Around In A Roundhouse but there were two versions - one with Prodigal Son and one without. There may be some cont

Quotetreaclefingers Quoteandrewm Why not give some more of the "secondary" markets a shot instead of N.Y., Boston, etc. again? They haven't played Vancouver since '06 and I'm sure they'd sell out B.C. Place (50,000+). look punk, don't be called Vancouver a secondary market. we have the second highest real estate prices in the world...we're TOTALLY HOT!

Yeah, like Heiloobas said, I had the Debbie Harry plus a couple of other earlier ones but sold them years ago. Good luck. I never knew there were other publications that preceded Hot Wacks.

QuoteStoneage The Russian referee stole a goal from Czechia! A very important goal since Czechia trails with 0-2. One period to go. Time for Czechia to go all in or lose this game... What happened? Didn't see it, too early in the morning here. Disallowed goal? Okay, I just watched the highlights. I would agree the Czechs got burned on that disallowed goal.

Quoteleftybill The only team that has a chance to beat Canada is Sweden. All others are playing for bronze. Yeah, I wouldn't get too confident, by any means. Canada has choked in the medal rounds in this tournament the last few years. I'd say Sweden, Russia, USA, Czechs, as well as Canada, all have a good shot. I'm glad Sweden is playing Russia so one of them will be knocked out.

I have a 2-lp set called Sin City '77, claiming to be from Vegas '77 but apparently they didn't play there. Anyway, it's quite good. There's a good recording on various boots from Paris '77, as well. Sorry, don't have links but they should be easy to find. I gather you're looking more for Rumours tour but the oft-booted Trod Nossel Studios, Wallingford,

Played a show with Jim and Kurt from the Young Fresh Fellows over the weekend and they had opened for the 'Mats on the previous two nights. They said Paul was stone cold sober, very reserved. Tele, did I perhaps see some pics you took of Paul, Jim and the rest of the Fellows on Facebook or was that someone else? Does your name start with a P? If so, great pics! If not, never mind.

What treacle said. You certainly seem to have an axe to grind based on decades-old grudges but that's your prerogative, of course. I have the utmost respect for Russian hockey, in general, but when you start talking about sportsmanship in that context I have to laugh. Ha.

QuoteStoneage Congratulations to Canada. Although I rooted for Russia: They are such elegant players and very sportsmanlike. Even though they often have everything against them (the audience and the referees) they hardly never complain. Canada is a very efficient and opportunistic team. They lack the Russian grandeur though. But all kudos to them. First of all they have a winning mentality. W

Was checking the score at work and got panicked when I saw it go from 5-1 to 5-4. Glad the boys hung on and congratulations to Slovakia on their upset win over Sweden! Now to watch the highlights.

I remember my friends and I thinking that J. Geils trumped the Stones in Seattle in '81 but looking back at the show now, courtesy of the footage of the Stones I think we were wrong. For whatever reason, we felt a bit disappointed by the Stones' set at the time-bad sound, long day, not enough to smoke? For me, I was on the floor and pretty close for the J. Geils Band set and had to go b
