Just taking an inventory of my record / music collection and notice that 99.5% of my absolute favorite music releases were recorded prior to the end of '75. The date of Faces breakup sort of coincides with the end of a period of influence that defines my musical DNA (if there is such a thing). Funny that...

Thanks to everyone who has posted! Thank you VideoJames for your post(s) in particular. I did find the liner notes that Stu wrote for the 'Rocket 88' LP and they provided a great deal of info. Here's an excerpt: "Anyone reading the line-up of musicians on this album would be forgiven for thinking that this is yet another jazz-rock fusion. It is, in fact, a straight-forward,

Pete Hogman is definitely the man behind 'MBL'. Regarding Long John's discovery of Rod . . . they had crossed paths before the Twickenham platform story. That may well have been the moment when John suggested Rod join the group but Rod had been kicking around the edges of the Davies All Stars for months.

Very sad to hear. Andy remained great friends with Charlie his whole life. They can be seen together at the 2012 Ealing Club celebration (Blue Plaque for Alexis & Cyril) at 00:01:03 entering the club in this clip Andy showed me many of the sketches, etc. that he made of the Stones members when they were recording Bridges From Babylon. He was a helleva an artist and a helleva nice guy. RIP

Brian and Mick both tried to pick up what they could in the way of harmonica technique etc. from Cyril Davies but I firmly believe that Cyril was never overly accommodating with them. Raw talent (great musical ears) & hard work (practice) elevated the skill level of both Stones to where they became harmonica players of note. Paul Jones said of Cyril and the Stones, "He would have left a

Great job Deltics! Cyril's a bit of a footnote which is a shame, he was so much more. Some kinda Stones connection... Charlie answered the Guardian's questions last April: G - Given your jazz background, was it a bit of a comedown when you joined the Stones? CW - It was more of a shock joining Alexis Korner. I'd never played with a harmonica player before – I couldn'
