Ealing Club Festival

The Ealing Club's Valentine Blues and Rock Festival featured a Cyril Davies tribute on February 14th featuring John O'Leary and Alan Glen, two of the UK's finest harmonica players. Last evening, the Barrelhouse Blues Night featured a selection of well seasoned Ealing Club musicians + Guests. Also in attendance were many merging music talents from the University of West London and the wider London music scene.

Tonight is the Ali Mac Band. The Ali Mac Band created a buzz at the 2012 Blues Festival in Walpole Park and will no doubt do the same at the tiny basement bar opposite Ealing Broadway station. Ali McKenzie used to play the club with Ronnie Wood back in the mid 60's with their band that was known as The Birds.

!@#$%^ I used to play in Walpole Park during our lunch breaks, 1961-3. Went to Ealing Grammar, there were a bunch of schools in the area & they let us play in Walpole & Lammas parks so we could socialise. Ealing film studio was still going at that time & sometimes we'd see them packing up for the lunch break, couldn't do much filming with a couple of hundred curious school kids floating around. I think it was the 65 or 97 buses that took me to & from school past Ealing Broadway

Is it really 50 years ago? Turned 63 last week, starting to feel it, at least I share arthritus in the fingers with Keith...
