I'm reading something about 'manipulation' of the figures in US charts with customised Major League Baseball album editions. Some kinda marketing ploy. Doesn't really mean much to me here in the UK.

I'm sure a canny fellow Scot like Stu would have baulked at the very idea of being the subject of a coffee table book but even more so at those kind of prices. Listening to Ian's playing is all you really need...

Going at a slight tangent; one of the best ever 'off the cuff' live albums you'll ever hear is Slade Alive. Recorded over 2 nights with a raucous audience, great setlist of mainly covers and almost zero overdubs. One of my favourites.

Just saw a report Pete Way of UFO has died. Posted on his website. Pete Way Official (Facebook announcement) Iconic bass player Pete Way founder of UFO, Waysted and, latterly, The Pete Way Band has died. He sustained life threatening injuries in an accident two months ago but fought hard until finally succumbing to those injuries at 11.35am BST today. His wife, Jenny, was at his side.

My all-time favourite is the Jaws soundtrack by John Williams (I'm a Jaws freak).Possibly the most iconic and recognisable opening music to any movie. Soundtrack to From Dusk til Dawn includes ZZ Top and SRV amongst others. Also love Apocalypse Now, the version with narration and movie dialogue running through it.

Think Johnny tried to portray himself as a cross between Keith and Hunter S.Thompson. Which was never really gonna work.

I was at that warm-up gig in the Apollo May 1982 my first ever Stones gig. Ticket was just printed as 'The Concert' cost £6. Night before the Scotland V England game and Mick pulled on a Scotland shirt. Brilliant, intimate show in a long gone legendary venue.

Strangely enough I always think So Young and Jump on top of me are fairly jaunty, light-hearted numbers with a similar theme. Short n Curlies too.
