Wow! I can’t believe I never heard that before. Thanks Dandy. I think it’s my new favorite Christmas song smiling smiley

Not a big Love Actually-fan, I presume? grinning smiley

That's where I first heard it.

I just googled Love Actually to see what it was, so I guess that gives a clue that I never saw it.
But I do love Otis! My girlfriend makes fun of me because I have such a man-crush on him.

I hate Christmas and everything that is related to Christmas…

Thank you for saying so! Myself I am not looking forward to it. I have learnt to survive Christmas though. And I do so much enjoy the wines that I am tasting during Christmas time.

I, who often like Stones songs that many posters find too sweet, can't on the other hand stand Christmas sentimentality. I am much reserved to Christmas pop songs.

OK, Lennon's song is acceptable!

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas by good old Bing.
But personally I stopped dreaming because my country is gradually changing into a subtropical zone, so no use dreaming of any snow ...confused smiley

Classic - Nat King Cole "The Christmas Song"

Blues - Albert King "Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin'"; Elvis - "Santa Claus Is Back In Town" (dirty blues sound with double meaning lyrics, what's not to like?)

Offbeat - Root Boy Slim "Christmas At K-Mart" (a fun listen)

I am not much for the whole holiday season, starting officially with Thanksgiving going up through New Year's Eve. Too much forced and or expected jollity, "we're all family" togetherness expectations, etc. The fact that Christmas decorations also start appearing in September in some stores also kills the whole idea of it. The saving grace for me regarding this time of year is that, through a lot of wading through music on YouTube and assorted music sites, I have built up a large collection of jazz, rhythm and blues and blues songs related to the Christmas season with both covers of the more popular seasonal songs and originals. So much better than the schmaltz one typically hears everywhere this time of the year.

You're not the only one. Look out for an Eric Idle song about Christmas. I won't mention the title or post a link but you'll find it easily enough on Youtube. It isn't complementary winking smiley

don't forget this one: [www.youtube.com]

It is not Christmas until I have heard Slade for the 4000th time (which is not enough!).

Their record must be played on Christmas Day in my house.

You must live in England?! I like the tune but I don't think many in North America know it. Never hear it played on any radio station. Must have made Noddy Holder and Jimmy Lea a ton of cash over the years!

No one has mentioned Do They Know It's Christmas yet. Ironic that the song has been out for 36 years now, I bought the single when it came out. I still don't know who all the performers are in the video!!

Hark the Herald Angels, Silent Night, Come All Ye Faithful, The First Noel, Joy To the World, O Holy Night, by the Cambridge Choir or other traditional choirs. plus the Nutcracker, especially Nureyev’s 1968 Covent Garden Film, and the New York City Ballet version by Ballachine
