It's a jam. So it is okay.
I still think the best Stones covers are played by The Black Crows.

That goes without saying.

Sounds like an awful pub band, but they are just messing about/warming up.

Anytime a major band does a Stones cover is a plus. Maybe some of their fans who have never listened to The Stones (gasp) will seek out the original and become fans. It keeps The Stones relevant to a younger generation.

It simply lacks the Stones' grooves, the vocals are thin.

Good point Scotty, no telling what can lead to what else in this world.

It was having "Full Metal Jacket" on in the background while I was working on a school project late one night that put The Stones on my radar.

Isn't Tom Scholz the only surviving member?

Can you really replace lead singer Brad Delp and still call it Boston?

Maybe South Boston, or East Boston, but the band Boston? The Tom Scholz Project would be more apt--anything else would be less than a feeling.

And to think some around here poke fun at Daltrey and Townshend for still calling it The Who.

It's like Greg Allman still calling it The Allman Brothers when he's the only brother left.

It may be technically a band, but calling it the same thing when it's had an 80% makeover does get a little misleading.

It's the Tom Scholz band, the band he would have assembled for a solo outing. But it isn't Boston, it can never be that band again.

I think it's best that we just hitch a ride and don't look back....

Isn't Lemmy the only original member left in Motorhead? Shouldn't it be the Ian Kilmister Experience? What about the Pretenders? Hasn't Chrissie Hynde been the only constant member there? And don't even get started on vocal groups where there are no original members in the current group.

Seriously, in a lot of cases, the band name is a brand name for a signature sound. Boston was always Tom Scholz's baby. If it's got that high gloss Tom Scholz production sheen, sounds like Boston to me. Didn't he pretty much do the first album himself with help on the vocals?

Tom Scholz has always been Boston. His songs his production his engineering. Everybody that has played for him has been a hired hand. Even Brad Delp.

As much as I find Boston rather cheesy (although I occasionally enjoy a few tunes as guilty pleasures),
this new tune and concept of the band is bordering on Cheese Whiz.

With that said, I'm sure it will find it's niche and possibly even infiltrate the classic rock airwaves.
Sounds as cheesy as ever, and I mean that as somewhat of a compliment.

Say what you want, it might have been Scholz' band, but without the voice of Brad Delp, like whom no one, and I mean no one, could sing, whatever they do, will be like a Charlie Watt-less Stones.

I'm not ashamed to say that it was the band Boston that first made me fall in love with rock and roll, even before I discovered the Rolling Stones. Their first album, which I discovered in 1977 at the age of 10, was a revelation. Brad Delp's glorious, soaring vocals, combined with Tom Scholz's incredible sonic wizardry and brilliant songwriting, transported me to worlds I never knew existed. Although it's been such a long time since I listened to it, I still get more than a feeling when I hear that old song playing. And looking back, Boston's debut record was truly a classic moment in the history of rock and roll.

Oh and by the way, this new Boston song is pure shite.

tom was always boston. the entire first album was pretty much complete before any members pictured on the back were hired to basically be the touring band other than delp.

I love the first two albums. Was thrilled that the third album led to the tour I saw them on (AWESOME SHOW!). Fourth album was... OK at best. Based on the above link, I don't think I'll need to buy the new album.

J.S. Bach was playing on my CD player before that started... Sorry Tom, it's back to Bach...

Peace,
Mr DJA

This song is being used in a Lexus commercial in the States. It is totally stuck in my head. Think that is a good thing. Sure is catchy!
