Love Brian but his time of any worth in the band was until 67, and even 67 is pushing it. He should have had the balls to leave the band at the end of 67 and form the first western/world music hybrid band. Now, that would have been something and he would have continued to inspire.

Nah, he's still doing lots of good shit in 1967 and even in to 1968.
The best time to leave as far as spitefully damaging the band goes would have been in spring 1967 after the Brian - Anita - Keith shit went down. Given all the other stuff going on it might have brought the band to an end although I think Bill and Charlie would just go along with what ever Mick and Keith wanted to do.
Yes, so very very many... One whom I admire the most is Nikola Tesla. Everyone should know his story.Quote

Imagine how many entrepreneurs that weren't really suitable as leaders there have been during the years...
Pretty much all that needs to be said,Quote

Without Mick and Keith working at and learning how to adapt their talents to song writing the band halts at being nothing, but an ace R&B cover band.
There's an OTT Jones fans phrase that gets used every chance they can - "No Jones, No Stones!"
The reality is no amalgamation, no Stones, no Mick and Keith song writing, no future.

I think that indicated he still had strong committment to the band, still had an emotional connection (perhaps deep down he still felt it was his band).
Or it could've been he was not ready to leave just yet.
