You were there, Silver Dagger? Congratulations! What do you remember?
Well, it's so long ago now and I was a mere whippersnapper of a lad. It was just down the road from where I lived in Swiss Cottage. I remember recording the gig but it turned out pretty muffled so not one of my better ones. Luckily it was captured professionally and preserved in the CD/DVD that came out recently. I remember being absolutely thrilled when Rod came on for If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody and him Ronnie and Keith all singing into one mike. That was so cool. I was also really in Roxy Music back then and couldn't help but notice how Ronnie's Crow jacket resembled the one Eno wore on the inside sleeve of For Your Pleasure.
I was sat downstairs about halfway back in the stalls in this old cinema that had also recently hosted one of the David Bowie Aladdin Sane shows and also a Faces show, if I remember correctly. The Gaumont is right next to a legendary Irish pub called Biddy Mulligans and legend had it that if you didn't stand when the Irish Republican anthem was played at 11pm you risked the wrath of the local IRA who drank there. They served a fine pint of Guinness, which Ronnie may well have sampled.
