Posted by: Jocke ()

Hello!

Where can I buy Rewind, Stone Age, Milestones, Time waits for no one, Solid rock, No
stone unturned, RocknRolling stones.....

Are these official(?) releses? Because I've never seen these records in a record store or on the internet...

Time Waits For No One can be found in record stores around Chicago, those 'ma and pa' type places - it was only released in the UK. It's a very cool record.

Rewind was a Columbia Records or CBS Records or whoever - SONY - official US/UK release (tracks differ for each continent). Both of those releases were by The Rolling Stones. Wasn't Rewind the end or beginning of a new record contract? Something like that.

Those other ones you mention are just ABKCO re-runs. The same tired tracks over and over and over in a different order. A waste of money. None of those releases have anything to do with The Rolling Stones (they didn't put them out in other words).

Well, let me clarify that - a friend of mine, an old roomate, found a copy in Chicago. I'm you can find it in other cities as well. Unless of course you're not in the States.

Rewind (1984) was the last lp in the Stones' Atlantic contract, and as I recall (I have the US version - haven't played it in years) aside from a nice cover (Bill w/ Standup bass) from one of the Undercover videos, had nothing of interest - hit singles 1971 - 84.
"Dirty Work" (1986) was the first Stones album for Sony/Columbia, preceded by Mick Jagger's solo debut "She's the Boss" (1985). The Stones were only at Sony through "Flashpoint" (1991), after which they signed to Virgin (debuting with "Voodoo Lounnge"), who reissued remastered versions of the 1971 - 91 catalog beginning in '94, with some titles (the live albums, 'Jamming With Edward') not issued til a couple years later.

Hej Jocke. Both Rewind and TWFNO were released in Sweden, both are official releases.
Rewind even got released on CD later on. You can find Rewind pretty easily on either ebay, or the swedish part of ebay, Tradera. TWFNO pops up from time to time, see below.
Here is a good selection of Rewind, both vinyl and CD:

[music.search.ebay.com]

And of course some TWFNO:

[search.ebay.com]

And for the rest you mention, just search on ebay winking smiley

True Erik. Can´t find the releasedate of the CD however.
1984 seems a bit early for the CD.
Funny thing about the CD copys of this title: My US pressed copy has a black tongue on the disc, and my canadian pressed copy has a red. How´s that for trivia? smiling smiley

Yes that's true, John - the entire London/Decca catalogue was released on CD in 1986 - and some (or all?) of the RSR records was released on CD the same year

All official
All deleted
None available on CD

The Stones took out full page ads in the music press to ask fans not to buy "Stone Age" as it was a hastily thrown together collection of supposedly hard to find songs that they deemed to be a 'substandard' release.

35 years later the same band were happily sanctioning the release of an album of 'Rarities' which contained some songs which were so 'rare' they could be found on a still-available album which had sold 3.5 million copies....

re Gazza's post on Rarities: and skipping 5 non album Voodoo Lounge singles 1994-95 ('The Storm', 'So Young', 'Jump On Top Of Me', 'I'm Gonna Drive' & the alternate mix of 'I Go Wild') and some killer Stripped singles/outtakes as well. Good to have 'Wild Horses' twice and edited versions of the "long" 'Miss You' (& others with a few seconds lopped off the end as well).

My bad. When I say 'not official' or whatever I'm just on the Stones' side. They didn't want those out, in otherwords.

Because we all know Allen Klein is a....um, that thing that inflated on the Tour Of The Americas...ha ha ha ha....

Oh - I thought Rewind was the best hits comp they've ever had out. I had wished for an updated version at some point - why not? At least it had the lyrics with it, unlike anything else, except from Dirty Work on. What was the other one? Let It Bleed had a lyric sheet come with the first issues.

And like an idiot, I gave my only CD copy to a girlfriend at the time and I never got it back. I've seen it go for $25 a few years ago. Some day I'll get it again.

I had Solid Rock before, but can't seem to find it now. As I remember there was a quite interesting collection of songs in there? It was that record that introduced be to the best tracks off Between The Buttons and Satanic, as I recall.

Hi.
Rewind on Vinyl: There is a difference between the US and the EU copy.
As far as I can remember: ( I don't have my collection with me at work every day, he,he)
It's a difference in the cover: Black and red at the top. Also a difference on the backside I think.
It's also a difference with the songs. Just one of them starts with Brown Sugar.
I think the EU-copy is printed in Holland and I think it is the US version on
CD.

Have a nice day.
