Janne Schaffer, a guitarereo from sweden. He played on several Abba tracks, but as a solo artist he did typical 70s jazz-rock fusion. I saw him in the early 80s I think, when his star was sinking yet. The music was okay, if you can stand fusion, but the man was horribly grimassing, it was impossible to watch. Every solo he played - and there was lots of noodling! - he repeated with his tongue. Imagine Gene Simmons, maybe you get the picture. At first I thought it was meant as a joke, but Janne did it the whole concert through. His girlfriend must be a lucky woman by the way...(-:

i'd have given alot of 'Heart & Soul', to have been in his shoes
Sting, in the royal albert hall sometime in november 1999. The boss paid for the ticket and for a spot of dinner in Sticky Fingers. The meal was top notch, the gig was crud, and it's 2 and a half hours of my life i shall never have back
In 1995 I took my little pre-pubescent cousins to see Take That. Watching 5 young men dancing in red leather thongs was quite embarassing. Only good thing was they opened with Satisfaction.

The Greatful Dead 1979-----they played for over three hours and I think it was only two songs !! Mindless, endless jams.... Was looking through the blissed out crowd of women with hairy legs and armpits for something sharp to slash myself with and end the misery....
I went to a couple of KISS shows back in the seventies, when I was a teenager, then went to one of their "farewell" shows back in the mid-nineties just to see what it was that I liked about them. Should have saved my money.
*Wayne Newton (very amusing yet sad) *Englebert Humperdink *Mr. Bungle (just noise) *Spice Girls (went on 90 mins late, played 40 mins then took an intermission) *Son Volt (I Actually fell asleep) *Pat Boone *Blink 182 (do not play well in arenas) *Kenny Rogers (in his late 1970's mega hit period) *Village People (First major arena tour around 1979) *Lauri Anderson (Fell asleep, and my date was embarassed and she suggested we go)
Some of these shows my parents dragged me to...
I was dragged to see the Bee Gee's in 1979 or 1980...they were quite good.

She still looks okay but takes herself way too seriously.
I saw a programme on Danish television about a "festival" in Denmark with a lot of past-it bands - Slade mark II, one of the incarnations of Sweet, Suzi Quatro and also T-Pau (which - I believe - is Carol Decker and whoever she has with her??).
In that programme they interviewed Carol Decker and ya had to larf. It was like listening to Ginger Spice in her glory days, thinking themselves some kind of cultural icons on par with Elvis, Bob Dylan, Beatles and Stones. And Ginger was probably closer to the truth than Carol. Except for a few wet dreams back in her day - what lasting contributions has she made?
She should just be happy that she can make a buck on the nostalgia-circuit (IMHO) ;-)
I roadied for the Barron Knights when I left university....I needed the money. It was at Xmas time and it was all club shows, real variety show stuff with crap pub singer warm up acts one of which was Chas and Dave.
I saw Tears for Fears, Cliff Richard and Status Quo @ Knebworth in 1990. Pink Floyd, Clapton and Page & Plant were also on the bill.
NickB I was there too for that concert, there were rumours abounding that the Stones were going to do a surprise appearance. Obviously didn't happen. Remember Cliffs Pink shiny suit?

Yeah Cliff's pink suit. Remember the storm of paper plates @ the end of Hey Jude?
I think so as my wife of the time was 7 months pregnant when we went and I had her sitting on my shoulders for a lot of the show so most of the time I had my head buried on my chest as the bulge from her pregnant stomach pushed into my neck.Hardly saw a thing!
