So, I was watching the completely ridiculous and silly Eurovision Song Contest the other day, and was completely amazed to see this guy from Croatia, Dado Topic, a 57 year old rocker, with a beautiful little song, completely different from all the Eurovision low-quality pop trash songs.

I did my research, Topic seems to be quite a legend in his country, had a great prog rock band in the seventies called "Time", his music is great, his voice is great AND he had a song back in 1979 called "Na Koncertu Rolling Stonesa". Suffice to say, it really caught my eye.

So I was wondering, are there any Croatians on board who could share more information about him generally and this particular song? I've been trying to find his cd's to buy, but it's been so hard it reminded me of the first days of the internet...

Occasionally those gems pops up. I will check him up later.
I find this environment more full of musical treasures

Dado Topiæ is great Croatian singer, songwriter and bassplayer. I reccomend you to listen whole first album (now digitally remastered) of his group called Time, from 1972. Speccially songs callled "Pjesma no.3", "Za koji život treba da se rodim", "Makedonija".
On this recorods you can also hear Vedran Božiæ, the greatest Croatian guitarplayer for 40 years.
It is great music! You will enjoy!

Song no. 5 is called "Kralj alkohol" which means "King Alcohol", not Kralj alkohola (King of alcohol). But it's not important, the music is important.
When you hear first album, you would like to hear the second album, which is also great, with songs like "Superstar", "Alfa Romeo GTA" "Zivot u cizmama s visokom petom" "Zivjeti slobodno" and all other great songs.

I found it while browsing Topic's discography, it's in a record called "Neosedlani" released in 1979. If I'm not wrong, I think it's his first solo record after Time.

I'm really suprised actually....that someone is so much interested in Croatian music. I may be too much biased, but we really have some great great stuff...if you need any further recommendation, me and Borna are here for you

Yeah, I found out about Croatian music and Dado Topic completely by chance. And although I don't understand the language it's not a problem at all, actually I really like the way it sounds. As you said, it's really a shame that this music didn't make it to the UK or US. I don't think the different language should be a barrier, these songs are so good, performance and music-wise.

Yes, if you got any recommendations for more good rock acts, I'd really like to check them out, thanks.
