The last great '60s band that could still tour with all of its original members.

No.

That list could also include The Rascals.

That's not going to happen. All four original Kinks are still alive, too, but that's not going to happen either.

For that matter, I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Simon and Garfunkel, but I'm not sure if a duo in which one of them doesn't do anything really qualifies as a "band".

well, when they got to ny a year over a year ago, that was it for then, they couldnt muster it up to even reach la . . multiple issues among those three, , some obvious, some very deep seeded.

i don't think it's gonna happen. i also didn't think that highly of their reunion sets. Still a thrill to see them back together and clapton's always a fascination for me, but compared to 'wheels of fire' the classic live 'crossroads' etc...it seemed rather lackluster to me...for me, even eric's signature distorto sound circa Cream days, while replicated perfectly, somehow seemed more like a sampled sound...almost like clapton bought a 'play cream like clapton' pedal or something...it didn't sound organic or raw to me...(he shoulda played a gibson like he mostly did with live Cream recordings back in the day...)
...& the great ginger baker, seemed a bit clinical & perhaps a tad tired as well, rather than the inspired powerhouse of legacy...etc..etc...
there "done," whether they know it or not, or try again or not, put a fork in 'em, cause they are done...

I thought the Rascals lead guitarist died right after their HOF induction?

I have nothing against reunion shows but am with you regarding the quality of the output. The 2005 live album was technically accurate and enjoyable but in no way did the songs explode and overwhelm like those old live albums. They really had the tiger by the tail for a while but those days are over.

His name's Gene Cornish. I Googled him. He seems to be alive and well.

Gene Cornish of th mighty and spectacular Rascals, did indeed lose his life a few years ago...r.i.p.

dosen't seem to be anyway to get eddie anywhere near felix anyway, and this for many many years...too muchg bad blood i guess...but what a grand, brilliant and totally solid band...

Isn't Ginger Baker supposed to be in bad health? Isn't that the main reason they didn't do a full tour?

Totally disagree! I went to three of the Albert Hall gigs and the last concert at MSG. They were all great, Friday night at the RAH in particular. For me, one of the best gigs I've ever been to. The DVD was good, but nowhere near actually being there on the night. OK, they don't sound like they did in 1968 - is that a surprise? Do the Stones or the Who sound like they did 40 years ago? Of course not - thank god!

Lee

N.B. I find most of EC's work fairly uninteresting! I had grave reservations before I saw them...half-expecting a bland run through of the old songs. Jack and Ginger forced Eric to prove (to me at least) he can still play with fire, given the opportunity!

Jack Bruce had a liver transplant a couple years ago and had still not fully recovered at the time of their Albert Hall and MSG shows. He says he feels much better now.

I think some are confusing Gene Cornish with Zal Yanovsky, who died not long after the Lovin' Spoonful were inducted into the HoF.

I agree that the bad blood in the Rascals runs pretty deep, with Eddie not joining the other three during a reunion tour in the late '80's (I chose not to go for that reason--now I'm sorry I didn't settle for seeing a 3/4 Rascals show)

I've seen Felix in concert twice, and I think he's got one of the greatest, most soulful voices (blue-eyed or otherwise) that I've ever heard. It sounds as good live as it did floating out of an AM radio...

So a Rascals reunion won't happen--but as long as everyone's alive and in good health, it CAN happen, right? (Like Pink Floyd at Live 8)

Another '60's reunion that probably won't happen--but still possibly could--is The Monkees.

Frankly, I like their records better than those of Cream.

You're probaly right. It's so easy to get all those mid-60s New York City pop combos confused!

The Monkees have already had all sorts of reunions. There's been Mickey and Davy reunions. There's been Mickey, Davy, and Peter reunions. There's even been Mickey, Davy, Peter and Mike reunions. Still to come: Paul, Mickey, Ringo, and Davy playing the hits of the Beatles and the Monkees.

... well,,, if one wants to be silly, they could pick up winwood to referee, be the adult,,, and bill themselves as: blind cream

Well whatever they want to call themselves,I think hooking up with Steve Winwood would be splendid idea. I saw him a couple years ago in San Francisco and I think he still remains a very talented musician.

thank you tatters and loog and others for correcting me...sure didn't want to kill off ol' Gene, so excuse the error and thanx for the correction...
(i've got his Bulldog LP with Gene & Dino Danelli so as a long time fan i should have known better)...dunno where the heck i got that from...perhaps reading that he had been ill with something serious...but i might have that wrong too...very glad to hear he's alive and well...very much so...
sad thing is i don't think Eddie Brigati (or brother David, also from Joey Dee & The Starlighters as was Felix) will ever work with Felix again, sadly...
seems to have some really very bad blood between them, at least from Eddie's perspective...
aside from an album with brother David a long time ago, i don't think Eddie's been active at all in show biz for a very, very long time...too bad, a wonderful and unique voice...
sorry about the gene thing folks.

I heard some talk last year about Clapton and Winwood wanting to do the Blind Faith thing again, without Ginger Baker, incredible as that seems, just the two of them, but they still wanted to call it Blind Faith! Haven't heard anything about that lately, though ....

Yeah Beely, since you're not usually prone to error, you actually gave me a start on the "Gene, RIP" thing. Nice to know--as Mark Twain said--that the "reports of his death have been greatly exaggerated."

It was nice to see the sing-for-your-supper one-time-only Rascals reunion at their HoF induction. David was even singing backups! While it can seem to be mandatory, not all bands have set aside their feuds and complied: Robbie Robertson didn't play with The Band, Fogarty wouldn't allow Doug and Stu to play with him when Creedence was inducted, and those two guys didn't get to jam with Blondie even when they begged to from the podium.

The Rascals didn't let the bad blood get in the way that night. With that thought in mind, as far as a future tour goes, we still have "A Ray of Hope."

I like the idea of a Blind Faith reunion.
