here it is: smiling smiley

On The Rolling Stones concert

as soon as I came into that western world
i bought the ticket for the concert
i read in Yugoslavia that they were famous
i will learn from them how to be the man
but, it seems, it is much harder
than i imagined
in my dreams

music plays real loud, it is really crowded
everyone are shaking, screaming and shouting like they're mad
the stage is shed by the gorgeus light show
Jagger shouts love me oh yes oh no
and in the rythm of music from hell
teenagers fall in trance
the Rolling Stones are playing

they attract youth with something
they sing about things that flatters them
about honest love
endless life
and about hapiness
and about money

and they're here, they all came
to hear their idols live
and everyone admires them
and love the Rolling Stones only
and for the moment they will all merge
in one body that wrenches and sweats
they are the slaves of that
world of music and world in color

and it's not miracle that they love them
and it's not miracle that they admire them
it's all because of the crazy age
and the time in which they live
as soon as they are thirteen, they want to love
and to be loved and have ideas
to change the world and war fields
to transform it into flower alleys
and to stop atomic race
and to get people bck to nature
and calling everyone in the battle for salvation
of life on earth, in the air and water

and just for the moment, when the show is over
all of them will be back home
and where will I go, because I'm the stranger
who is looking for place under foreign stars

This I like! I immediately felt...
Mellotron? 1972...
Hearing the first sample Za Koji Zivot Treba Da Se Rodim

...Anmd then I for certain d-o-n-t love - and do not know! all 'former
east block countries rock'...... Only the Hungarian scene I dont know...
Thois is partly slightly similar, partly totally different.

A little Purplish I'd say.

... This music makes me nostalgic, makes me think about the
careful optimism one could sense out in Europe in the summers on the 70s
& early 80s while Interrail still was a big thing, people interested in
getting to know other youngsters of their age in other European countries...
Me & my pals sittin' on a beach in Split or anywhere... All FYR 'nations'
and other nationalities... Before the war...

Sure this will be a great concert!!!!!!

we haven't mentioned any Slovenian music, from which my favourite band is Buldozer (something like Frank Zappa)
plenty of hillarious moments on their live album, including the cover of "Hey Joe" and "Another brick in the wall" on harmonica smiling smiley

Adrinax, thanks a lot for the translation too! So Dado's a great musician and a Stones fan, it's too much grinning smiley

Baboon Bro, I wish I could have lived those moments you're describing. It sounds dreamy. Great times.

Bitches Brew, Novica, thanks a lot for the extra info and the links!

There's really a treasure chest of great, great music out there and it's fantastic that the internet helps people discover more of it.

"Baboon Bro, I wish I could have lived those moments you're describing. It sounds dreamy. Great times. "

Sure was. Wouldnt like to paint Old Yugoslavia in too bright colors
(there were far too many uniforms around for me to feel relaxed);
but people talked and there were no strong ethnical awareness
(though I know that disease had started already back then).

Me, I used to go to Zagreb, Split & Belgrad.

Split felt really dreamy. Now I see Adrianic Coast generally is
regaining their status as a touristic Eldorado. My grandpa used to
go to Rijeka, which is Croatia, I reckon?

My former neighbor was/is a Serbian (Romani & Muslim, God help him!)
and he has told me a lot about the war and what happened.

yes, Rijeka is in Croatia too
but both Rijeka and Split are one of the biggest cities in Croatia, so it's very crowded and sea is not so clean like on the rest of the coast
our biggest gems are small towns, like Dubrovnik, Trogir, Primosten, and islands (Hvar, Kornati, Cres...)

Pippi L.. is a world-famous children's book/movie by Astrid Lindgren.

For Adrinax:

by any chance, do you have also "Saputanje na jastuku" in mp3? (had LP long long time ago, would really like to have it on mp3 as well)

I am looking for this for a very long time, and to be quite honest, this was the last place where I was expected that I will find Dado Topic mp3 ;-)))

thanks already for the things that you posted, excellent, made my day!!!

I reccomend to you some excellent Croatian rock music to download:
all records of band "PARNI VALJAK"
all records of band "PSIHOMODO POP"
records from '80's of group "PRLJAVO KAZALISTE"
and records of my band "JURA STUBLIC & FILM"

Those rock bands were in late '80's called "Zg (Zagreb) Rock Forces"

Have a good time and enjoy the music!

very difficult choice for me to make, had to remove some of my favourites because of the 100MB limit on Rapidshare
also very strange for me to translate these song names, some of them sound very strange and funny in English

Parni Valjak (Steam Roller)

song list:

Ljubavna (Love song)
Prokleta nedjelja (Damn sunday)
Ugasi me (Extinguish me)
Anja (*female name*)
Godine prolaze (Years passing by)
Mijenjam se (I'm changing)
Sjaj u ocima (Shine in the eyes)
Kada me dotakne (When she touches me)
Suzama se vatre na gase (Fire cannot be extinguished by tears)
Sve jos mirise na nju (Everything still smells like her)
Zastave (Flags)
...a gdje je ljubav (...and where is love)
Gledam je dok spava (I'm watching her sleep)
Ivana (*female name*)
Javi se (Call me)
Jesen u meni (Autumn inside me)
Pusti nek' traje (Let it last)
Kao ti (Like you)
Moja je pjesma lagana (My song is light)
Stranica dnevnika (Diary page)
Uhvati ritam (Catch a rythm)
Zagreb ima isti pozivni (Zagreb still has the same area code)
Neda (*female name*)
Molitva (feat. Dado Topic) (The prayer)

[rapidshare.com]

...and I'm still amazed about the interest you guys show for this music smiling smiley
maybe someone should rename this topic in "Ex-YU music" or something similar...

Thanks Adrinax! Dl:ing right now.

Been a while since Old Baboon posted anything from your neighbors Hungary.
I allow myself to post a major classic here, a real anti-Soviet song,
about how the Hungarian ancestors moved into the Carpate Basin some
1,000 years before the Russians...
