If the Stones can be selective and discriminatory about the sort of audiences theyre wanting to attract at certain shows in 2007, its therefore perfectly reasonable for the public to also be selective about the type and cost of shows they wish to see.
First of all over Easter there will be no announcements for any new shows. That was the same last year. A third show in London my not be likely as the weekend is bank holiday and most UKs spreading out somewhere and do not stay in the cities. But that's only a guess. Last years shows in Glasgow (Friday) and Sheffield (Sunday) had been on bank holiday weekend. But it will be hard to get flights out of UK in general over the weekend and they might be much more expensive. I am still waiting to see if there would be third show, but I will defenitely book my flight to London.

mercy - of course it is! always has been. wandering into Stones shows willy-nilly like ... like .... like Glaswegians at Blackpool is just not done. forget about it. :E

I would say thats probably correct

The final show of the Steel Wheels tour took place at Wembley Stadium on 25/8/90 and that was not only a bank holiday weekend, but a rescheduled show. The Twickenham 2003 shows were also scheduled for the August bank holiday weekend. They'll have no problem scheduling and selling an arena show on 25/8/07 regardless of when it takes place.
The Stones have the 02 reserved for 25/8/07 anyway, so it appears theyve every intention of playing there on that date subject to the ticket demand for the first two shows.
as stated several times in the last few weeks, its not happening. The stadium isnt available that week
No way could they play 2 or 3 nights at the 02 and sell out Wembley Stadium as well anyway.
If they play any other UK shows they should be further north. I think London's done ok on this tour as they'll have got 5 out of the 8 UK shows (I dont count the IOW as thats not a Stones' audience) even though they have only 12-15% of the country's population.

I'm far from convinced the 21st and 23rd August shows are sold out. Apart from anything else, the one thing they do not appear to be having much success selling (hardly surprising at £250) are the hot seats. Just do a search for up to 8 (EIGHT !!!) seats in section/block 112 under the hot seat package, and you'll see that even at this point in time you can get 8 adjacent seats in ROW B for gods sake (second row up) for the second of the two dates, the 23rd. And how long is it since the O2 sale started, 3 weeks now ? As for the rest of the venue, the £70, £100 and £150 seats, I find it difficult to believe that these are ALL sold for both dates at this moment in time. I think that Ticketmaster might have temporarily stopped selling for these shows, for whatever reason I can't imagine, and that the sales will continue at some point in the future. But sold out totally ? Nope, I don't think so. No way.

I suppose it's still thought likely that a third show will be added. I just think it's a shame that the optional extra show will be added at the end. The keenest fans on the whole will be booked for the initially announced dates and will miss out on the opportunity to catch the last show of the tour. Why could they not have gone with the 23rd and 25th...with the option of the ectra show on the 21st for example. I know it's August bank holiday weekend, but they always play over the bank holiday weekend...so I don't see that as an issue.

Pauly, a couple of points:
Block 112 is a hot seat for £250? I got what I consider better seats at £150. These £250 seats are essentially corporate hospitality for business people after a day on the golf course discussing mergers and acquisitions. Almost a seperate reality from the majority of people who will be there.
In terms of selling out - I wouldn't be too surprised to see a few more released later in the day, although I suspect these may become available when the third gig is announced with all the attendant publicity....but by and large I think there's not too many left apart from these silly-priced ones.

I agree. I was lucky enough to get floor seats in block A3 row H for the 21st, which I'm kind of guessing are "better" than these block 112 hot package jobs. I was looking out of twofold curiosity, (a) where were these hot seats located and (b) were they actually selling ? And I also agree, they will more than likely be occupied by the kind of people you describe ... sad to say !!
As far as sales of other tickets go ... it's a bit of a guessing game really, is it not ? Interestingly enough, Ticketmaster has not been selling them for a few days now. This is a bit of a longer spell than the periodic "maintenance" period which usually occurs during the night. What to make of it ? Dunno, but I still maintain the line that it cannot be fully sold out for both nights. I suspect that Ticketmaster will intermittently release more tickets ... but where and how many and whether all in one blast or in dribs n' drabs ? Anyone's guess really ?
To all those insiders (at least 2 here;-): how much of 100% is it likely to happen? I know that the very first rumour of a London show was the 25th, but with two shows already before...maybe it´s not gonna happen at all.
Any remarks (regarding my question) are appreciated.
