The guy who wrote the movie Moonlight Mile insisted on the song being in the film. They had to pay $1 million and they werent allowed to use it on the CD, but it was played during an important scene when the chick dances with the dude in the bar and that's the song they played off the jukebox.

CYHMK at the begining of Blow is definitely my favorite, but I'm looking forward to whatever Keith will be strumming in Pirates III, although it certainly wont be a Stones song.

In 'Good fellas' there are some nice Let It Bleed moments ("Gimme Shelter", "Monkey Man" I think).

2000 Man from Bottle Rocket has already been stated, but it's worth repeating. As I recall, the song is treated with respect and I was completely surprised and delighted when I heard it. I don't think I've ever heard that song on the radio, so to hear in a film was a thrill.

Gimme Shelter was also in Casino.

In Casino there is a long sequence with the complete studio version of CYHMK. Think that would be my favourite scene containing music by the Stones.

Heart of Stone is also played in Casino

Goodfellas there is a snippet of Memo from Turner(the Ry Cooder version) near the end of the movie, when the Liotta character is being followed by a hellicopter

Easy.....try this from my new screenplay

EXT. BACK ALLY, MOVIE LOCATION SET – NIGHT

A movie crew, director (JACK WOO) and movie equipment are set up in an ally. The action follows Alex’s description.

ALEX (OS)
The scene starts with a LOW WIDE shot of an
ally in the dead of night. It’s drizzling and
the only street light working illuminates the
rain dripping down the rough brick walls of
the ally buildings and lays a shimmering track
like a moon beam down the broken pavement.
The opening licks of The Stones, Rough Justice
kick in creating tension as a cube van
appears at the end of the ally and manoeuvres
to back into the ally. As the backup lights
come on the song is shifting gears and the van
starts to back up, picking up speed as it heads
for the camera, then suddenly coming to an
abrupt stop as it’s about to fill the screen.

The music stops abruptly.

INT. BACK IN DINNER – NIGHT

Alex is using his arm to mimic the camera move from the wide angle to the overhead shot.

ALEX
As the lyrics kick in we cut to an overhead
view of the ally centred on the van.

EXT. BACK ALLY, MOVIE LOCATION SET – NIGHT

An OVERHEAD view of the ally centred on the van. The music starts again where it left off as the lyrics kick in.

ALEX (OS)
The front doors of the van swing open and two
masked men dressed in black rush to the back of
the van and swing open the cargo doors. We
CUT TO a WIDEANGLE shot looking into the back
of the van. Just as the lyrics get to “Am I
just one of your cocks” (says it over
soundtrack lyrics’)we see Denzel sitting inside
behind ‘a big gun’. I love the symbolism, big
gun, cock. The camera ZOOMS IN SLOWLY until it
is focussed on a waist up shot of Denzel.
There’s something in his eyes as he reaches up
and cocks the gun and anchors himself for the
fun. We CUT TO a LOW WIDE SHOT showing the
underside of the van where the two masked men
have taken cover behind the duel tires and are
braced for the anticipated fireworks. We CUT
BACK to Denzel just as his expression turns to
one of single-mindedness and he lets loose. The
soundtrack quietens as the screen erupts in a
MONTAGE of classic Jack Woo explosion shots
from a VARIETY OF ANGLES. The MONTAGE STOPS
with a WIDE SHOT. We can barely make out the
van in the cloud of dust. As the dust clears we
see more and more of the van and a massive hole
in the wall of the bank. The shot PANS to the
inside of the back of the van and ZOMMS IN on a
dusty and smiling Denzel removing his safety
goggles. End scene. You have to work that
Denzel smile in!

Not quite a movie, but fans of the Miami Vice TV series may remember "Miss You" being used in the very first scene of the pilot episode. The sound is playing from a boombox carried by two young thug types in NYC. Hilariously dated now, but it set the tone for that scene.

I really haven't seen many, but I do enjoy the "You Got the Silver" mini-sequence in "Zabrisky Point" (Antonioni).

I ran a search on IMDB...

Alot of movies use stones song's, but not all( any-really ?) with scorcese's effectiveness.
Just my humble opinion of course. Gimme Shelter set's the whole tone for the Departed. Let's you know right away what this flick is all about!

Oh and it ( GS )is used very effectively in Layer Cake & it was just gonna be a filler track "The song that plays while XXXX and Morty drive to see Jimmy was intended to be a temporary track until something better was found, but the filmmakers liked it so much it remained in the final cut." (from imdb)

Apocalipse Now - Satisfaction , yes great moment , and Susie Q also...in a opentheatre with Playboy`s playmates....
Do you remember a story called "Story of Pop Music " from late 70`s /early 80`s? there was a part called "Hard Rock" with "Fanfares "from 77 European Tour", few times in this part and nothing more about Stones - it was exciting.....

Jake Gyllenhaal is dancing with a much younger-looking Ellen Pompeo, now famous as the lead on "Grey's Anatomy."

"Moonlight Mile" does, in fact, appear on the soundtrack to the film. God, I hope the Stones didn't really stick them for a $1 million for using an amazing tune that needed exposure...

Meanwhile, a cool use of an ultra-forgotten Stones tune in a bad, bad movie comes in Cameron Crowe's "Vanilla Sky." There's an aerial shot of Tom Cruise's car on the FDR Drive in Manhattan as "Heaven" blares on the soundtrack.

It was in the last episode of season 2.
They have also used Undercover Of The Night, Moonlight Mile, Make No Mistake (live version) and The Faces' Bad 'n Ruin.
