Best movie scene with a Stones song

I'd have to say De Niro entering the bar in Scorcese's Mean Streets with JJF blasting.

It has to be a Scorcese movie--he does a great job of working the band's music in.

Gimmie Shelter twice now, right? Goodfellas and Departed.

YCAGWYW in "The Big Chill"
Satisfaction in "Apocalypse Now"

I gotta go with "2000 Man" in Bottle Rocket over the "Monkey Man" coke scene in Goodfellas, but it's close.

Ahh, no one remembers..... CAN'T YOU HEAR ME KNOCKING as the opening of the Johnny Depp film BLOW - nothin' beats that guitar blasting away as the movie starts.......

How about Let it Loose from The Departed.

"It's just some friends of mine and they're busting down the door"

"Can't You Hear Me Knocking" at the start of Blow was great, for sure. The problem was that the rest of the movie blew.

I was pretty disappointed with "Let It Loose" in The Departed - I thought it could have been used better, I guess. It just kind of seemed to come and go.

"I Am Waiting" in Rushmore is super, too. As is "She Smiled Sweetly" in The Royal Tennenbaums. Wes Anderson is the heir to Scorcese's Stones throne.

i, for one, hated - sorry lukester - LOATHED the use of let it loose in The Departed. i don't wanna hear such a beautiful song (one of my faves!) while someone's being tortured . . .Doo Doo Doo Heartbreaker would have been more appropriate for a torture sequence . . .

The ending credits for Full Metal Jacket. Paint It Black.

That IS a really good one that I forgot about. The only problem is the song is really sped up - but it still kicks ass....

Yeah, Let it Loose was strange--on one hand it is w/o doubt one of my favorite Stones songs and, as such, it was great to see it in a movie.

That said, it seemed completely out of place

In Casino, with the famous scene with de niro, and joe pesci.

De Niro: "Is this your pen?"

Wiseguy: "Yes it is"

De Niro: "Oh, well, its just that its a nice pen, i didnt want it to get lost or something..."

Wiseguy: "Well thankyou, now why dont you take that pen, and shove it up your ass, you f*ckin' jack-off..."

And pesci's character proceeds to stab the man in the neck with the pen, and all this is done to the soundtrack of 'long long while'.

Also, in 'the fan'. De Niro and his on screen son are on there way to a baseball game in de niros SUV, and they are listening to shattered, and de niro is saying how he remembers when the stones recorded the song, they had a big party etc etc. And his son, who is around 10, pipes up

"Micky Pelegrino's Dad says Mick Jagger's gay."

De Niro: "Yeah, well, Micky Pelegrino's Dad takes it up the ass..."

The look on the kids face is priceless.

There have been so many great uses of stones songs in movies. The whole of can't you hear me knocking is used in Casino, as well as a funny seen with a cowboy, where they use Sweet Virginia.

That was a GOOD one--JJ Flash from Ya Yas--cool choice and, not to mention a very funny scene. "We got underaged girls in here!"

I wrote about this in some other thread, but did anyone notice in "The Departed" that it is the cover of "Exile" that di Caprio uses to send the chick that CDR?

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

oh man great thread....good call JJ Flash and Juan TCB on the Michael Keaton scene in Night Shift....and Juan, the Bottle Rockets reference was perfectly obscure....I love it...........Lip, shame on you, the Aint Too Proud to Beg song in The Big Chill was the original Temptations version.....not the Stones

Isn't "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" originally by The Temptations?

I'll vote for Margit Carstenson in Fassbinder's FEAR OF FEAR, where she takes a handful of pills, chugs some brandy, puts on the headphones & listens to "We Love You".
