Legitimate perhaps but not equally so.
From the band's pov it was a movie shoot and in that context any fans who managed to get tickets were effectively visitors on a movie set. This (that a film was to be made) was announced in the press prior to the sale of tickets.

Further, TM made it clear that the majority of the available-for-purchase tix would be limited view because of film equipment, and all tix had printed on them the fact that filming would be going on.

Arriving at the theatre, one encountered signs everywhere that made clear that filming was in progress, and by entering the site that you were agreeing to be filmed and have your likeness used by the film producers.

The fact that the event was used to raise funds for a charitable cause (and not a political purpose as some insist on saying) is irrelevant in the context of the movie set: the actors, sets, props, and lights were part of a movie being produced, whether that involves The Glimmer Twins on stage, the glamour fodder of the first few rows, or the glad-to-be there fans sitting up in the gods.

More specifically, complaining about the events of the Beacon is, IMHO, like complaining about have a bad experience hearing all the lines spoken at a movie set: it was never really about the fans in the theatre or at a movie set; while it is very much about the film project.

I'm not defending or attacking the Stones for this, but I do think it's their choice to make, and that to complain about this seven days on is . . . less than fruitful. I for one am anxious to hear and see the dvd. The performances were outstanding and Stones fans are in for a treat if the dvd production comes close to approaching Four Flicks. Personally, I think it will surpass FF, if not in quantity then in quality.

However, as a fan, had I chosen to look for a ticket, the SOLE reason for doing so would have been the chance to see my favourite band in an intimate setting. I couldnt have cared less if it was filmed or not, who the charity was for and what VIPs were there.

I would guess that for the vast majority of us, yourself included, that would have been the case. It may well have been obvious that it was a movie and a charity event, but neither would have influenced your decision on whether or not you wished to go.

I'm sorry to have to piss all over your chips, camper88, but what kind of storyline, authentic or otherwise, matches the unlikely scenario of a bunch of wrinkly old wheezers being leered over by a crowd of scantily dressed young bimbos? Even Spinal Tap never stooped this low for chrissakes!

Unless of course, the "movie" happens to be a comedy caper about a bunch of desperate old farts hiring as many extras as possible (including an ex-president) in a hilariously vain attempt to look credible.

But please, whatever you say, don't for God's sake, tell me that it is supposed to be a real life documentary on the Rolling Stones. That would finish me.

It's bad enough facing up to the fact that it is being made by the same idiot who failed to capture, among others, Acadian Driftwood and Four Strong Winds on film. The Last Waltz? How the f**ck could anyone NOT make a decent film out of THAT concert?

The young woman receiving a pick from Keith, touching his hand in the last picture, is a real fan. She is a Shidoobee who was picked from her photo, yes, and then asked by Keith to sit in the same spot for both shows. She is the only one who looks 'real', in that shot and then in the corner in the one above that. Ah, well, show biz.

May I add to my post that I don't think fans are bad because they're either fat or old. That's what The Stones' fanbase probably look like. I have no problem with that and why would I. I haven't met a single fellow fan that wasn't cool and interesting to talk with (Except one).

Just regard this post as damage conrol. I wouldn't wanna come off like someone who bitches that the fanbase is too old. I don't think that. You never get too old to rock 'n roll - The problem is, to me, that people don't really rock 'n roll at the shows (As far as I can see - Except South America of course). People just stand there. That's my problem. Maybe I could be convinced of the opposite if I went to a show with Sir Sweden. :-)

You're right but I wasn't the one critizing this.

THIS IS AN OLD STORY!

Through the years I had built good connections to the Stones Tour Organisation. So that I got sometimes TIX on a much easier way.
In 1995 the Stones were doing a Show in Amsterdam at the Paradiso, that was filmed for the Stripped-Video.
When I asked for to get me a ticket for the front of Stage area, they told me:
"Go and buy you big tits, (I'm a male) then you will get a ticket for the Show.This is the only way-because the show will be filmed."

So, there is nothing New on this Story-that's business.
I can understand, that they want nice, crazy going girls in the frontrow. On the screen it looks much better, but you don't have to think about it. ENJOY IT!

In earlier Days we talked about a "STONES CONCERT".
Today they are only talking about a "STONES SHOW".
And that it is!
But I'm still enjoying to see them on Stage, after over 170 (a few concerts and a lot of Shows).

I am grateful that they accompanied my life, such a long way. And they are still there!

For me, it seems that certain guys here are just jaleous because they'll never will be in the position when someone puts girls like these before them. I'm a musician as well and I know the difference between playing in front of fat old jerks or young women looking like that chick in red ... ;-)

Hah! The most significant comment you made was that "someone puts girls like these before them" - ie, they didnt 'attract' them by themselves, but 'someone' felt it necessary to 'import' them and pay them for their trouble. Which makes the fact that they look hot completely meaningless. Its a bit like having sex with a hooker and then boasting that you're a big hit with women.

Ahh I wish Martin...also filmed Chicago...in the damm cold...from what I heard jumping hardcore-fans(I wish I could see that show..bootleg dvd or not!)And Jagger..giving his all to the crowd...than you get a real docu...mix it with NY...and you can go to sleep again...yeah Chicago...was Martin there BTW?To Kent...People around me were screaming..and dancing and singing and laughing...but thats holland(fos...very mixed old and young R&R lers..absolutely not tame...and me Im never tame!)

And when I think about it...they dont have to do those things(I dont know whoms idea it was) cause they have so many young fans in I Italy...Argentina..Brazil..they dont have to hire!!

I was not wearing diapers in 1981 - but close enough, only a few years away....I am still a big fan! So that age thing should not count, should it? I am, however, just an ordinary girl. "Gorgeous", "skinny" and "model" are definitely not words I would use to describe myself, so I guess I would not be FOS at these shows... ;-) Oh well, it is a pity that they do not show what we call "real fans" up front, but it is their choice. I will still watch that DVD.. It does give a rather false impression though, as they could at least have shown a number of persons their age FOS. That would be the truth! The Stones gather all age groups these days and that is admirable. This should IMO also be shown in the movie...

I have never been at a clubgig and dont feel like I will have much chance later either...but not giving up hope! Just wish I could have been there!
