This whole thing is pretty amazing. I would be furious if I lived in NY, made a serious attempt to get in and didn't and then read this.

WHAT IF....these rent-a-ladies are NOT featured in the final edit of the movie?

I don't recall much, if any crowd reaction shots in The Last Waltz.

Maybe, just maybe, this was a brilliant move by a canny director. While there's something to be said for the energy that real hard-core fans bring to a show, there is nothing like a beautiful girl. Paid for or not.

Don't you guys stand up a little more straight when you see a hot babe walking towards you? Maybe Scorsese wanted to...stimulate the Stones a little. "Pump up" their performance if you will.

At 63, Jagger's on-stage sexual energy can't be what it was in Ladies and Gentlemen, when he was 29. But it is an important part of his act, and if--as I'm guessing--this was Scorsese's method of bringing this out, then he is doing his job as a film director. A very good one.

Cause it's all about the movie. Whatever it takes. Even if, on the surface right now, it looks SO pathetic!

(If there are a lot of hot honey shots in the final movie, then forget about everything I've just said!)

We can send back pictures from Saturn's rings, film legions of penguins in sub 50 degree temperatures and produce stunning footage of creatures living at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, yet you're trying to tell us that for one of the world's so-called greatest producers it is impossible to film a Rolling Stones theatre show with a normal crowd present.

The thing is, most Stones fans (and I'm sure, like me, youre in this category) find it tiresome reading all the pointless, meaningless ageist jibes at the band's expense that have been in the press for the last 25 years or so

Its pretty shitty then to see the same condescending nonsense being directed at their genuine fans from fellow fans. Those people have as much right to be in an audience as someone (like you) in their 20's has.

The whole notion that the front row of a concert by a group of leather faced sexagenarians is full of 20 year old skanky women is nonsensical, phoney and in playing along with it, only makes the Stones look false and stupid. Besides, there ARE enough good looking fans (in my personal experience) who would have got tickets and whose ugliness had they been ushered down front wouldnt have caused your precious DVD player to spontaneously combust the moment their mugs appeared fleetingly on your screen. You, no doubt, have been to enough shows to know that this image youre trying to stereotype of the entire Stones fanbase is a load of cock.

This is nothing new. They did the same for the Paradiso 1995 recordings. And also at the Mick Jagger El Rey show. The boys an girls up front were paid 200 dollars to make a nice and controlled look. And the guy who is all over Mick's legs up rfont on the Being Mick video is of course a model. Not that it bothers me, this is just a fact. I can enjoy the shows while the models enjoy the dollars.

If you look closely at the front row shots from the Beacon shows you will see hands with black writsbands mostly, those who were paid to be there, fans or not, and then there are actually a few red and green writsbands there too. Red from the Sunday show regular ticket sales, green from the 2nd show Wednesday. Scorsese will not be very happy when he is seing those colors up front, in his filmings, mening he has to do some video edits to mix and match images from Beacon 1 and 2.

actually they were three things

a movie shoot

a tour concert (after all, they SOLD tickets to fans on TM. Those people werent movie extras as they paid to get in)

a charity event (the first night only)

As there were several different ways of acquiring access to the tickets, defining the purpose to them would surely depend on one's own perspective, based primarily on the method used in obtaining your ticket.

If you asked (in turn) Bill Clinton, Pauly and Beast who had travelled over from London, and then an actress who was paid to dance in the front row what the evening meant to them and what it represented, you might get widely difefrent replies - all of them perfectly legitimate.
