I´m proud to be a setlist moaner, someone has to do it:
12 hits out 0f 20
Jumping Jack Flash It's Only Rock'n Roll Let's Spend The Night Together Tumbling Dice Happy (Keith) Miss You (to B-stage) Honky Tonk Women (to main stage) Sympathy For The Devil Start Me Up Brown Sugar You Can't Always Get What You Want (encore) Satisfaction (encore)
just 3 new songs (out of 18 new ones)!
Oh No Not You Again Rain Fall Down This Place Is Empty (Keith)
4 songs played regularly, with gaps Best part of the show, right (if you are a diehard f a n)?
All Down The Line Midnight Rambler Respectable Get Off Of My Cloud
only one gem
As Tears Go By (played with drums?)
All in all a setlist to moan. Boston has been played 2 times in a bigger venue 4 months ago.
I wasn´t there, right. But I must say that I´m not even interested in hearing boots of that/those show(s), I know it sounds like 1997/1998/1999/ 2002/2003. Same arrangements? Sure...
Tumbling Dice with Bernard and Lisa doing WhooWhoos at the beginning, right?
Night Together with piano intro? B+L doing the "Dada´s", right? No rough guitars, right?
Respectable with "1234"-Chucky intro, right?? On how many more songs did he do it?
Sympathy with synthi intro, right? Same since 1989 (since 17 years!)
Rambler? The Stones were just the Stones, right? Best song of the evening, right?
Distorted guitars? On what songs? Rough Justice? Oh No, Not Played Again! I see. I have the bad feeling they are losing the edges again before coming to Europe. And here they will play even safer, because of really high ticket prices. "You can´t annoy those concert goers by an experimental setlist. They payed much and want to have ALL those hits".
It would be great to hear that it wasn´t like this, but it was, right?
Sorry to bother you, but now it´s out of my head.

KEEP DREAMING! come on. you know them by now. no chance to hear 99.9 % of these.
Most of the fans who go to the shows love to hear songs they know. They don't own 200 Stones records. They might only own a few greatest hits records. They want to hear the big hits. If the Stones played a long list of rare songs only it would have been the worst show ever. A lot of people in the crowd would go for beers and there would be a few hundred superfans sitting there listening without any crowd noise. It would be a bad show indeed.
out of time gotta get away i am waiting child of the moon we love you soul survivor winter let it loose under the radar break the spell in another land(keith sings) sleep tonight dirty work(to b stage) take it or leave it(b) gomper(b) too tough(b) too much blood slave jigsaw puzzle highwire jiving sister fanny

Exactly........thanks for the sanity. If the Stones start playing Indian Girl in Atlanta....I'll go for a bathroom break.

Wow, great setlist! You can´t annoy me with Gomper. I could easily live with that. The setlist is even worth € 200.
obviously that isn't going to happen, they will change up the setlist, but arn't going to drop the warhorses entirly, but they will add some new ones. I'm confident Gimmie Shelter will go into the 9 slot Sunday instead of Midnight Rambler, because they played it during soundcheck last night, and lisa didnt sing much either last night. they will also go with 21 songs Sunday and have different songs in the encore. you cant ask for an entire overhall of the set list, but Sway and Dead Flowers should get in instead of Start Me Up or Tumblin' Dice.

In 1998 maybe 10.000 fans out of 90.000 knew Out Of Control or Saint Of Me in Hamburg or Hannover. And those were the highlights, crowd reaction was really good, singalong on saint and a big roar after OOC ended. That proves that you can´t argue like above. So it´s what you offer to the crowd. Believe me, 80% of that "never played"-list could convince a "greatest hits" crowd. If it´s a good song (and their songs are 95% good) you can convince anyone. Just have the balls to play it.
Agreed...TT is so damned right.....I am sorry to say so.
The Stones are religion to me....but what they are delivering this tour @#$%& me up so much... indeed dissapointment is so deep that this is the first time EVER I am not interested in boots of the tour....why should I get them ? I have the same songs in the same quality from LICKS tour. ... and I even stopped to try to convince other people to go to a Stones show. When they say: " Ah, come on..they are just repeating them selfes in a greatest hits show"...I have to agree.
It is not about a matter of taste...I always was against the so called setlistmoaners, cause I said the Stones have so many songs to choose from that it is impossible to please evryone.
But by serving us such a poor show setlistwise, we are forced to analyse the choose of songs.
This is not a living band anymore...this is nostalgica.
20 songs.....12 warehorses which they play since 20 years... 3-4 NEW songs...RIDICILOUS !!!...
Some of the shows are without any blues part at all( by not playing BOMH,MR,)
The BEST song ( Rambler) just playd irregularly....
What they say is not what they do....any more. They say: we play clubs as well....they don`t They say: we have to mix the setlist to keep us fresh...they don`t. They say: we have to play many new songs...otherwise it would not make any sense to be there....they almost ignore the new album. They say: the new songs are all livecompatible.... How many new songs we have ? 18 How many new songs are performed ? 3 - 4
To make it clear: I am not talking about the musical perfomance I am not talking about they quality of the show I am not talking about the soundquality
All this things seem to be okey....but the songs they choose are far from good. And I never thought to say so...but I think without Chuck the setlist would be even worse...he seems to be the only one who forces Jagger to change one or 2 songs or to try something rare or whatever.
Now, some of you may say...it is about HOW they play and not about WHAT they play. I did agree till this tour...I may be thrilled by a killer 2005 version of JJF or BS or SMU....but I dont want to hear them anymore show after show.
Going on tour just 2 years after the last big tour and playing the same songs, though they have a new album behind them, is unacceptable to me.
That said I am still looking forward seing the Stones this summer, cause I love them more than anything else.....but I hate their setlist these days..
Cu cheers Salar
My BIGGER BANGS so far: Barcelona,Frankfurt,Cologne,Paris ?
how about stray cat blues and laugh i nearly died instead of rain fall down and it's only rock and roll, and keith sings little t and a instead of happy sunday i think that would be a nice addition
This is an endless and useless discussion made by selfish fans who can't understand how normal people look at the Stones. Very very rarely the Stones do not play one of their greatest hits. I mean stuff like Tumbling Dice, Jumping Jack Flash, Brown Sugar, Satisfaction and so on. Then, if you use your eyes and ears at a show, and then look at it reading set lists on the computer, you actually hear people walking out of the show saying: "Why didn't they do...?". Sure sait of Me and Oh No Not You Again and rain Fall Down work fine. They are new songs. Like Saint Of Me and Out Of Conrol. But it would be an offense to the regular fan not to play their favorites. Like going to the Louvre and not seing Mona Lisa. And to Rome and finding out they had taken down Colloseum.
