Clearly time for me to get my head examined! -smiling smiley You're right as well, Logie. I don't think it's all as clear-cut as it may seem. But it is really hard to fathom a Wembley price of £22.50 in 1990 and £30 in 1995, as far as I recall, and now it's £150?! How much is that in or out of line with other things? I don't think they're alone, though. I'm not sure but isn't that what Madonna was charging? If so, that is even more abominable considering she's a single act (let alone any other considerations).

the top ticket prices for the UK are much the same as last time. However a FAR higher proportion of the tickets are in the £150 range this time than before. Example : A lower tier stand seat at Wembley is £150. In 2003 at twickenham it was £80. In 1999 it was about £40.

well they managed Ok on £40 tickets in 1999 and I'm sure the band still took home a tidy profit . Do you think the crew's wages and the other overheads have increased by 400% in that time?

The 'corporate shite' actually gives them less excuse to make the ticket prices higher as the band actually arent responsible for that much of the initial outlay.

I'd MUCH prefer it if they stuck to

I'd prefer the old problem of simple, honest supply and demand myself. And if they cared, they could do it in a way to give fan club members priority anyway. The old method was better. If you dont get lucky due to demand, tough shit. Having to play second fiddle in the pecking order for tickets to a bunch of couldnt care less corporate @#$%& is galling.

At worst, anyone now always has the

with respect, then go and watch opera. This is rock 'n' roll, last time I looked. It should be classless. and isn't' meant to be 'exclusive'.

people see this ticket price argument as a black and white thing. No-ones suggesting they should give the bloody tickets away for £10 and £20. They're a top act, after all. But doubling the majority of your ticket prices on each of the last two tours here is crappy.

If that is true, what's the difference

it does. But so what? No comparison as an art form.

I don't want to watch opera, thank you very much!! But many people who are so inclined also complain bitterly about the prices which deny them access.

In france, curiously, tickets are the same level than 2003. And to be more specific, in Nice compare to Marseille 2003, as tickets are composed of 2/3 FOS at 64 euros each, I can concude, that in my country prices are lower than 2003 where the ticket prices rocketed. Now in Nice, where U2 booked 2 shows in 2005, FOS tix costs were at 70 euros. So higher than for the Stones !!!
