I don't blame anyone who comes to me and says, well Harm, I'm sorry. I would like to go and see them but that's too much money for us. ( min 250 eur / couple)
There are people who have to make choiches on what they spend their money on. How unbelievable it might sound to some people.

Better than having all money on the Stones bank!!

Just one question Bjornulf: How many tickets did pay on this tour (be honest!)?

Actually, there seem to be a lot of young fans complaining too.
I think it's a cross generation thing to agree on the fact that the prices are too high.

BTW. I guess you all know that already, but if you wonder where all the FOS tickets have gone? Just have a look on ebay, FOS for 229 Euro which is even 100 Euro over high face value :-(( That's what the presale is for !

Indeed, because of high ticket prices young people won't be able to go. And exactly that is what I liked most at Dylan's concert. Amazing how many young people attended his concerts. Great.
We might be getting older and complain but we still buy more than one ticket each tour. That's why the Stones (and MC, who is laughing about all this complaining) keep on going.
But besides all that, they still deliver.

I`m kind of fed up with the economics angle.

Even if the Stones sell lots of tickets it doesn`t hide the fact that they are overpriced.

I can't believe all the whining by people. You sound like a bunch of socialists. "Send me your money...Some people can't afford to go..." Of coures some people can't afford to go! Some people can't afford to go see a band at the local pub- Does that mean the price is too high??

I don't like shelling out that kind of jack either, but the bottom line is the VENUES ARE ALWAYS FULL!!!! THAT is proof the the tix ARE NOT TOO HIGH!! If you can sell them, they are not too high.

The fact that you or I think it's high has nothing to do with it. IT'S SIMPLE SUPPLY AND DEMAND, just like every other matter in a capitalistic world.

I use the price of the tix and the number of them sold when some of my non-Stone fan friends tell me how old and over the hill they are. I ask them to name ANYONE who can sell that many tix at those prices!

"Take all the pain...It's yours anyway"

If 24 is your age you seem to be on the sunny side of life.
Congratulations! Your Mum and your Dad will buy all the
tickets you want, sure. Or you make so much money that all
this discussion bothers you. Sorry that a lot of people here
think that the prices of the Stones European tour are mostly
outrageous.

If your view is a capitalist view of things, I must be proud
to be a so called socialist.

Complaining about ticket prices will lead to absolutly nothing constructive at all. If you don't like the current prices you are probably a supporter of a communist regime or a pathetic daydreaming socialist. In the 21th century we're, like it or not, into the system of market economy. It's supply and demand. If you can't afford to buy something you desire for, you just have to go for the cheaper goods. Really simple, right. I don't whine about that I don't live in a mansion or at Park Avenue in New York City. If you only can afford to live in a ramshackle building it's likely because you did not work hard enough at school and didn't get good grades so that you can't advance in society and are stuck with working at Mc Donald's or Walmart. If you are complaining about ticket prices it's the first sign of the fact that you're too old to rock'n'roll or just bored with your life. You are only wasting your time since you can't do zilch about the prices of tix. The Rolling Stones are a money machine and not charity. Stop complaining and get real. If prices are high the rednecks will not be able to spend a wad of dollars on beer and therfore fewer people will spill their beverages on my precious clothes. The more corporate folks in expensive suits on a concert, the more you can enjoy the music and don't have to worry about hobos and white thrash accessing the venue. It's just supply and demand...they have the supply ~ we make the demand....economics man!!!!

I will not comment on your stupid remarks about "poor" people
who can´t get on in life and don´t deserve to see the Stones live.
Well, poverty is not a matter of the wallet, in your case it´s a
matter of mind.

Most of the people who complain are not too old (see above) , they
are young and just can´t afford it.

Or, Rank, was it just irony?

In fact I can also complain and whine and maybe buy the ticket from a scalper for just $20.

Some people are even just too stupid, however hard they may work. Some even ain't ruthless enough.

One thing: stadium rock has NOTHING to do with rock'n'roll. If you like to rock'n'roll you're down at the local club. If it's really rock'n'roll people dance. They hardly ever do it in stadiums.

> You are only wasting your time since you can't do zilch

I can complain. It satisfies my mind. I'm very pleased to hear I can upset a guy like you with my whining. That's exactly what I want. I may even rob you and your frieds when I see you walking down the street. I will take away your Stones tickets asking you if you really want to be my friend. Then I will burn them in front of your face and climb the fences to get into the venue.

Yes, yes, I like it! Now you've found your rhythm!

I dream of the day when Keith in his vodka delirium aks the people to knife the attending guys with ties, to shoot the fat assed no-dancers, to burn the people sitting in the $450 seats. They day will come. The day is near!

> It's just supply and demand...they have the supply ~ we
> make the demand....economics man!!!!

Ok. I get what you're saying and you're mostly right, yes the Rolling Stones are a money machine and not charity. Still it's my @#$%&' right to make the demand that I want cheaper tickets. In fact I don't want cheaper tickets, I want free tickets. I'm a hedonist, not a socialist. They should play in my front lawn. They should play every song I want to hear, any time of the day I want it. Shit, I want to take them down into my dungeon and not letting them out until they have written a bunch of decent songs. I want all their money. That's what I really want. I want to play guitar with Keith Richards. I want to sniff coke with Ronnie Wood. I want to outdo Mick Jagger. I want to do whatever I want, anarchy in the UK, and I'm free to do what I want. So @#$%&' hell let me be "not constructive" if I want to. I'd much rather be destructive anyway if I hear about Stones ticket prizes. I want to rush their concerts. I want to light up this town. I want to kill for peace.

i am 30 and attended 3 shows this year...

Yes the prices are relatively high! Especially for me who wants to be front of stage all the time. It is sometimes very expensive in the USA, but if you are lucky you can get field tickets much cheaper than face value. If you don't want to be on the field you can find plenty cheap tickets.
In the USA I met a lot of people who earn a lot of money maybe 4-5 times more than me, but they had this attitude not to pay that much money ($450) for a ticket. It's a decision, and it's OK: you could pay but you don't want to pay. Who cares?

The Stones are my favourite band. I like seeing the Stones live and I know it is a very limited time for us to see them in the future. So I pay big money to get in and see them. For me nothing can be compared to the Stones so I don't really care if Bruce Springsteen plays 12 hours, or Dylan charges five bucks for a ticket or U2 changes 30 songs every night or Macca playes 20 never before played tunes.

It's like try to explain to a Barcelona fan that the Real Madrid players are better, the tickets are cheaper in Bernabeu, and you get a Real t-shirt after purchasing the ticket, and the seats are much more comfortable in the Real stadium. Even if it's true one remains Barcelona fan because he found his pleasure in that.

It isn't that the price of tickets is to high relative to otehr things for sale in this world, it is that many people can't afford to but feel entitled to go. You are entitled to nothing in this world. What you can afford is a function of your abilities, ambition, and economic system you live in. If your country takes all your money in taxes get pissed and do something about it. If you are lazy, get off your ass. If you are stupid I'm sorry, life has never been easy for the stupid.

Re: If you hate the ticket prices post here
Date: December 8, 2005 22:48

This is not a new phenomenon. I remember my dad complaining about paying $8 for tickets in 1972. Ralph J. Gleason blasted the Stones in 1969, saying their (at the time top dollar tickets were an unheard of $6.50) pricing reflected their "contempt" (his word-not mine) for their audience.

The Stones like to make money. They've never been ashamed of that, and why should they? People basically pay for their niaevete - even the Stones, who had their songwriting and ownership royalties practically stolen from underneath their coke-encrusted nostrils by Allen Klien in the 60s. Were talking millions of dollars in potential lost income. I can see why they like to make the money and guard it more closely now.

Do I like to pay $350/ticket for a concert? Nope. No band is worth that to me. My solution? I bought cheaper tickets. Still expensive, and to no other band would I pay what I did. But I found a solution that worked for me, went to three shows, had three awesome weekends built around the shows I went to.

I saw three completely different shows in terms of both material and asthetics. One was unforgettable (Columbus) one was really good (Atlanta) one was just so-so (Memphis). I don't feel like I lost out at any point, and if I did, at worst it would be a best 2 out of 3 situation. Not bad odds for a world that isn't perfect.

People are suckers (myself included) for paying what they(we) pay. Why do I say this? Well, at ALL(thats 3 out of 3, or 100%) of the shows I went to I had opportunities to buy BETTER TICKETS THAT WHAT I ALREADY HAD FOR LESS THAN WHAT I ORIGINALLY PAID. Either through people on the street, or last minute "special pricing" TicketNazi sales. Don't like the prices? Don't worry! That level of greed brings out the greed in everyone, from corporations (like TicketBastard) to ticket scalpers. It backfires when people buy tickets thinking they are gonna clean up and end up practically giving them away for nothing as soon as Keith hits the opening chords to "Start Me Up".

(....take a minute to visualize that scenario. You are outside the arena negotiating with a guy with a fistful of tickets. You say "$25" they say "$75". You hear the open "G" tuning of "Brown Sugar" ring out in a distant echo as you chuckle poiltely and say "It's on you, bro!" )

Regardless, the reality is that putting on a big production is expensive. Sad, yet true.

But this doesn't have to be your problem. Go to the shows. Have a good time. Don't mortage the farm. Have an extra beer. Get laid. You'll thank yourself later.

I had a harder time coming up with the money for Steel Wheels and Voodoo Lounge tickets than I did for the last few tours. Also in high school it was tough to scrounge up $40 so me and my girlfriend could go see some metal arena show. Seems like when I got a job and started making money was when the prices started skyrocketing. Now, whether I have the money or not $350 just isnt worth it. But its worth it to other people and the Stones have every right to charge it and if some guy wants to sell his tickets he also has every right to sell those for whatever he wants.
