Congratulations to the band and their new ptoducer !
But why an album released in 2023 gets a grammy for best album in 2025 ?

It's the windows for nomination.

[ . .. and They've actually done very well indeed to win something with an album that's not fresher off the press.]

Someone stated in the Grammy thread on the Steve Hoffman Forums that the window for 2025 Grammy awards was Sept. 16, 2023 to August 30th, 2024.

Congratulations to the rolling stones and Andrew Watt for the Grammy's win.
It is a good record done by exceptionnal musicians with very long careers in the music business and a young producer totally into their music;it is 2025 and they all deserve to be rewarded for keeping rock and roll music alive.

Does winning a Grammy have any impact on Sales? (Georgelicks is probably the knowledgeable one here).

And, beyond that, does anyone give a fig about the Grammys these days? (Or did they ever?)

Watched it last night, it was pretty good actually. I may not dig all the categories but it's nice to occasionally get a glimpse on what is getting the lion's share of listens nowadays. Congrats to HD for best rock album!

Fantastic news! I loved Hackney Diamonds but I didn't think it would be recognised by the Grammys.

Does anyone have all the other nominees, and can you compare them? Is HD better than them, in your opinion. I know one new song by the Black Crowes, but that's it.

Best Rock Album
The Black Crowes - Happiness Bastards
Fontaines D.C. - Romance
Green Day - Saviors
IDLES - Tangk
Pearl Jam - Dark Matter
WINNER: The Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds
Jack White - No Name

I can't compare them all - the only other one I've heard in full is No Name.

So happy the Stones won a grammy for Hackney Diamonds - I listened to it again today just to remind myself how great it really is~ and the song "Rolling Stone Blues" featuring MICK, Keef & Ronnie is the cherry on top! That sealed the deal, for sure!

Well, my mother told my father just before I, I was born
She said, "Got a boy child comin', he's gonna be, gonna be a rolling stone
He's gonna be a rolling stone, he's gonna be a rolling stone
Oh well"

Ronnie doesn't play on Rollin' Stone Blues.

Nothing against Ronnie, but that song coming at the end, just acoustic Keith and Mick, was the essence of the Rolling Stones for me.

why does the Grammy win not get its own thread/subject ??

Because, despite our unruly efforts to turn these pages into a confused shambles...

...BV tries very hard to keep them tidy, easily navigable and not too cluttered winking smiley

I just think.....

Stones win Grammy !!

...is well worthy of its own thread

We waited so long for it to land

Most of us love it

And looks like the critics etc love it

And its 2025, 63 years later.....wow wow wow !!

Have a great day all !!

Somebody wake up the genius execs at Polydor/Universal and remind them that the 18-month clock they set to promote Hackney Diamonds is still ticking.
