You can criticize Elton John for his Liberace life style I guess. But no one can deny his obvious talent, both as a musician and artist.
Who's criticizing him?
No one - but Keith did.
It wasn't about his Liberace life style.

When the follow-up studio of HD in your opinion, could see the light?

I'd like them to release it just before it's quite finished .
If I have one criticism of HD , some of it has had just a few too many rough edges polished off.

I agree PLUS that SSOH is basically Otis' I Got Dreams To Remember during the verse and Depending On You is basically a poor man's Keys To Your Love...
I would love them to go back to that dry, Was-inspired sound as well. It's the Stones trademark really.

Surprised there's not more commentary on this, tbh, although I know the awards often mean more to the artists than they do to us. That's a strong list, there, and my guess is that they have a good shot. Apart from anything else I think the voters might want to give them what might be one last shot at an award. (My vote is still going to No Name, though. )
Wonder if they'll play the awards show . . .

You're prolly right. They will at some point get a lifetime achievement award, and THEN they'll play.

They already had that one. They didn't play, but show up (via satellite) drunk, especially Charlie. The rest needed to cool him down...

Thinking of that hilarous 'performance' from 1986, makes me wonder if that was the very last time The Stones acted controversial in public. Since then, starting with 'come back' in 1989, they'd been behaving so well, almost gentlemen-like in public (if we forget some of Keith's headline comments).
But back in 1986 I wonder how was the public reception like. Probably still back then Grammys were something rock generations couldn't give a shit, but I guess especially in America it was a big deal, and The Stones probably turned out as morons. The Stones were not that highly regarded at the time in general - it was the the 80's at its best/worst - and that probably didn't much help.

Just listened in full again after putting it down around August once the tour ended. It still hits. My top 3 songs in Spotify wrapped 2024 were all HD haha
