What a great marketing!
So now we already Know the cities they will play during the Hackney Diamonds Tourwinking smiley!

if this is true than Berlin will get two shows (the 3rd and the last picture were taken in Berlin!)

… but honestly I don't think that these pictures indicate shows in the cities where these pictures were taken (otherwise I would result in a kind of zig-zag tour with one very few dates all across teh western hemisphere… rather unlikely, I guess.)

The 3rd picture is not the Brandenburg Gate. More like the Arc de Triomphe.

The Berlin street is named 'Brunnenstr.', it's No. 186 and located 1.4 km northwest of Alexanderplatz.

The picture with the Berlin 'Rotes Rathaus' in background is 'Karl-Liebknecht-Str.', No. 13 (Berlin Carré, former Markthalle), 300 metres northwest of Alexanderplatz - Google StreetView.

EXCLUSIVE

STONES SECRET The Rolling Stones will release new album Hackney Diamonds in October as they secretly reveal new single

Simon Boyle
Published: 29 Aug 2023

ROLLING Stones fans believe the sneaky newspaper ad that teased their new album also contained a hidden clue to the title of the lead single ?.?.?.?and it’s Angry.

Those who called the number of the fake glazing ad in the Hackney Gazette last week were met with a recording that said: “Welcome to Hackney Diamonds, specialists in glass repair.

“Don’t get angry, get it fixed.”

And that has led many to think “Angry” could be the first single from the album, which will be called Hackney Diamonds.

A music industry insider said: “The reception from the Stones’ fans to the announcement has been incredible.

“Angry is a good shout, but they’ll just have to wait and see.”

Fans won’t be twiddling their thumbs for too long, as I have been told the band, made up of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, are putting out the record in late October.

My music insider added: “The Stones are so proud of Hackney Diamonds and they cannot wait for their fans to hear it.

“The record is going to be out towards the end of October. They’re confident it will become their 14th chart-topper.”

I’d definitely put a fiver on it. Earlier this year I revealed that the group’s former bassist, Bill Wyman, had returned to record a song on the album dedicated to the Stones’ late drummer Charlie Watts.

The album is the band’s first since his death in 2021 and the first body of work featuring original songs since A Bigger Bang was released in 2005.

Charlie’s drumming will be heard on the record, with his stand-in Steve Jordan providing the rest, while Elton John and Paul McCartney will also put in cameos.

As the nights start to draw in and the weather gets even worse, I can’t think of anything better than getting this record on vinyl and playing it at top blast with a glass of something warming.

Roll on October.

No other info other than "the 6th?" ... Just a news announcement? New single? Complete album (hopefully)? ... all still speculation or is it known what happens that date?

I expect release date, tracklist, and new single... and of course, the formats and prices in all music stores!!!
thumbs up

I know it’s been debated as to the origin of the name and maybe someone has already said it but since “Hackney” is an area maybe it’s the actual physical location of the “can”? I’m sure there are backups in the cloud but I would bet they have a trove of physical tape, hard drives etc.
Just a thought…beyond excited for this album!

Hackney Diamonds is an old east London slang phrase for broken glass. It has nothing to do with physical tapes or cloud backups.

Hey just a thought..I know I read about the slang but maybe a double meaning. Referring to older songs in the can as “diamonds” makes sense to me.

I swear they showed a newer version of an old song a few weeks ago on their Instagram stories so it disappears. I remember thinking I didn’t know where it came from. I cannot remember the song—I want to say it was HTW? Did anyone else see that?

The newly registered song titles suggest its news material. I certainly hope so. I am so stoked with the PR campaign. Bring on that tour!

"The overriding theme of the album is based on relationships, with ongoing references of broken glass and harsh elements" - doesn't sound like older songs (as they once did with Tattoo You).

“New material” could be anything they wrote they never released. Could be old scratch tracks they resurrected. I don’t mean songs they already released or already fully recorded. But I just know I heard Keith say “we have so much of Charlie in the can” that could mean anything…could mean a groove he recorded 30 years ago that they turn into a loop..who knows?
I’m a songwriter and artist, from my perspective I have dozens of old songs I could go back to that I never released. It’s just a thought, to call their bank of music “diamonds”

Agree with slewan. This is a teaser campaign for the album.

They are not going to announce a tour - yet. These are just big cities, big media markets for visibility.
