My favorite juxtaposition in those snaps is the B&L box sitting innocently enough in front of the Childish Gambino lp.

I never said the cover was ineffective, just that it was, like the music it envelops, boring. It's a shameless selling of the band as a "brand" in a way that is so blatant as to be laughable. I bet they'd've sold an extra million worldwide had they only had the foresight to tie up with Starbucks and included a peel-off coupon for a skinny soy latte on the shrinkwrap!

Strange Loneeeebeach ... I reckon it's a great cover even if it is a use of theeeee tongue ... Ya can spot it from miles off and everyone knows what it is .. Simple but totally effective...

I took this snap last week in Melbourne; it's where Granny and I buy all our records when we're down under. I believe Blue & Lonesome was shelved in the
"Choral" section.

Agree, and personally I love the cover. And puzzling to me, even though I like the cover, I don't really get why anyone cares that much. I hate the Crosseyed Heart cover but love the album!

I also find it funny that some think the B&L cover is just 'blue' ... it is not. There is a cool pixelating flow into the purplish mix, often used in many of today's marketing logos. Mick was always up on marketing, I am sure that was intentional.

Hmmm.. I seem to be in a very small minority here who thinks that not only BLUE & LONESOME but also GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!... (or what it was called) have nice covers in them. BLUE & LONESOME one is such simple and effective that it stands out as easily as that kind of item should be in today's reduced album sleeve 'art'; a perfect CD cover. And everytime I see the gorilla cover I can only laugh... It is so positively banal, ridiculous, 'anti-serious' and even tasteless - a sort of middle-finger statement against any pretensions to think the Stones should act more respectfully in towards their huge legacy.
