Anita was the essence of 60's cool and Performance will always be one of my favorite movies ever. In fact, I think I will watch it again this week in honor of Anita.

if i understand the story correctly, keith always made sure she was taken care of. hope that was the case. it's also why i look at keith's "image" as an inside joke, really. the truth is keith is a soft hearted pirate.

Anita used to say that we (the two of us) are light years ahead of the Rolling Stones. Witty and probably true!
I will miss Anita so much; 52 years! I really loved her. We had good times & bad times, but I only remember the good times now. She taught me so much, especially after we got clean; it was very good, and so much fun! Farewell my love, go well.

48 hours ago I was looking a pic of Anita taken recently. Her eyes are so clear. What a full and fascinating life she had. And will continue to have, I'm sure...

Anita was incredibly beautiful and her charm shows through in those early photos, incredible European sophisticated sensuality, and her intelligence....

RIP. She was as important to the music as the guitars and nearly as beautiful.

to meet and chat with Anita outside the Stones private party
in London following final 02 concert August 2007 .....

Anita was everything you expected ... alive... witty..so full of spirit
She talked to us openly and found much humour in my nick-name...

While chatting with her a limo arrives and out steps Keith who
sways up through the paparazzi towards the entrance of the club like Norma
Desmond in those last final moments of Sunset Boulevard .....

As Keith get to the gates Anita grabs me by the shirt collar and
drags me towards him yelling ... Keeef Keeef look it's Vvvvvvvvrrrrockman ....

Keith and Anita then yelled words at each other ...
They were talking a language of their own .... You could still see the bond... you could tell they'd both ridden horses over cliffs together ...

Minutes later Anita had me inside the party ... A crazy night... wonderful memories...

A beautiful woman ..... intelligent ...witty ... wild spirit.....

I will never wish any woman I know to live the life Anita has lived. Reading some comments she has/had a lot of admirers.

Rolling Stone Keith Richards had a cigarette in his mouth yesterday as he led 15,000 people on a march against health cuts. The guitarist, famed for his drug and booze binges, waved a pink flag to save St Richard's Hospital in Chichester, West Sussex. Dressed in a long black coat, blue shirt, cream scarf and hat, the 63-year-old hellraiser led a mile-long rally as he puffed away on a cigarette before joking: "I'm saving up for a halo."

Addressing the rally, Keith, who lives at nearby West Wittering, said: "What a turn out! Yeah! I have used St Richards Hospital a couple of times myself, you know - and it's saved a couple of other lives, too." And with actors Christopher Timothy and Patricia Routledge, he pleaded with health officials to scrap "cost-cutting" plans to close the Accident and Emergency, maternity and pediatric units.

The cause of death was not revealed, but the statement released Wednesday said Pallenberg "had been ill for some time" and that her family was by her side.

"A most remarkable woman. Always in my heart," Richards said in a statement.
Pallenberg was born on April 6, 1942. She served as inspiration for the Stones' "Miss Amanda Jones" and "You Got the Silver."

An extraordinary woman indeed and what a life she led. RIP Anita.

My encounter with her occurred last year. It was at the hotel swimming pool in Buenos Aires where we were going to the Ole Tour gigs. Myself and BarRoomQueen decided to have a morning swim before gearing up for the trek out to La Plata and the surreal moment occurred when we found ourselves joined by Anita in her leopard print swimsuit. The three of us had the pool to ourselves, it was all very tranquil and she seemed to be very relaxed and happy to be there.
We later bumped into her in the bar before the gig and exchanged a few words - she said to us "you're staying at the hotel aren't you?" which surprised and amused us. Happy days........

Ha ha - I remember that! It was on the BBC News at the time. Keith certainly pulled a crowd. After protesting against the cuts, He said "and after the hospital they look after you over there". He pointed his stick at a graveyard across the street from where he met his speech and drew a laugh from the crowd.

Nice to see that Keith and Anita remained the best of friends after they parted, especially so after Anita got clean herself, though it took her longer to get there. Considering the lifestyle she led, 73 isn't a bad effort at all.

Yes, 73 isn't bad innings, as we say, considering that she had hepatitis C, which very often leads to cirrhosis and liver cancer.

In a recent post, someone said she was at Redlands to celebrate her granddaughter's birthday, so it seems she died with her whole family around her.

Really sad news to hear. I've always had a soft spot for Anita and not just for her undoubted beauty. She pushed the boundaries and as she says herself, was always way ahead of the Stones.

I saw a tweet from someone who lives near Wittering last week, and they said that their Waitrose delivery had arrived and that the person the driver had delivered to before her, was a Mr Richards and he showed her a photo on his phone of him stood with Keith. So it seems Keith was there, either through design or chance. Good to think that Keith would have been there at the end. RIP Anita.
