Well. am looking forward with curiousity what the New album is gonna be like. Which outtakes will they have worked on?? Hope its the strong outtakes and not the filler ones.
I am sure there will be some Great Strong tracks on the album, and i will be Happy.
Jeroen
They have enough good outtakes to make other 3/4 projects à la Tattoo You!!!
The best 10/12 reworked outtakes from previous sessions...i think would be a great album.
Think so too. Keep our fingers crossed.

I never understood the hate for "Don't Stop". It's a well-crafted song. Pure Pop perfection. The video is pretty sweet too. If they could write new tunes like this again I'd be quite satisfied.

as much as I hated it in 2002, in 2019 a song like this would be practically thrilling.

The official Licks songs including Don't Stop were pretty bad no doubt, though Keith's Losing My Touch was OK.
The unreleased demos were definitely a notch above imo, and better than most of what was on A Bigger Bang.

Judging by some of the performance footage we've seen over the past couple of years...not nearly enough.Quote

Early Stages...lol
'"Meanwhile, Keith says the band is getting ready for what will be “quite a long rehearsal [period]” for the tour"'.
Seems they're more serious and dedicated to rehearsals for the upcoming tour than working on a new album!
How many times can they rehearse Honky Tonk Women or Satisfaction?!!!

I think they were pretty damn tight by end of last year's run, but some of those early shows were rough to listen to at times. Even the warhorses felt rickety.

"Mick (Jagger) and I got together the last few months with (producer) Don Was in the studio, and we’ve been knocking up some ideas. We want to do some more sessions, but not sure when. We might do something in February and March. It’s progressing. All I can say, there are a couple of nice things happening, with the promise of a lot more, and we’re having fun doing it. We get together, and it’s always, ‘Got anything new?’ ‘Did anything else occur?’ And a couple of songs always pop up"

Two new songs before the tour..and then the new album?

While this was published again today, the interview was originally published November, 29, '18. New album?
And while I hope for two new songs before the tour, there was this quote from Keith around the same time to ponder:
"Like I say, early stages. I would say if I'm looking at it, we're going to do this tour, so maybe this time next year, I would say.
Maybe. That looks like a reasonable projection."
Keeping fingers crossed for a new song or two to add some fresh blood to the upcoming tour!

In honesty .. I think they got together and thought.. the album is not up to the standards they were holding it to and to then it's the 'oh well theres the holidays etc. etc. they pushed it back until after the tour ... Which will likely be fall of 2019.
My problem with that is the way they left it sit. They nipped at it in bits.. and left it sit for months at a time. I can certainly understand needing creative breathing time and letting something evolve over due time .. I get all that ...bc sometimes material needs time to do that ...but come on .. it went on for too long.
Next fall hopefully you and I will be discussing the new Rolling Stones album and HOPEFULLY it will be worth the wait bc of it's quality.

Based on that recent quote from Keith highlighted above, I get the feeling he is the one holding up the proceedings - maybe even pruposefully. Remember, he was the one talking about the possibility of Blue and Lonesome Pt. II - evidently he didn't get his wish. Then there was Mick releasing Getta Grip/England Lost w/Ronnie and Charlie, and without Keith. Remember Keith saying to Mick (paraphrase) "This ain't Stones material - If you want to release it, release it on your own", and Mick went ahead and did so. Keith would later say "and the bugger went ahead and did it"...not giving any hint of support for Mick or an acknowledgement of the release. So now grumpy old Keith might still feel betrayed by that entire scenario. Throw in his desire to record more blues covers, and he's probably doing everything he can to sabotage the supposed new album (just speculating). In one sense that is a good thing as there's some quality control from Keith taking place (no Getta Grips allowed!), but on the other hand the album is nowhere in sight (still at beginning stages) to the dismay of fans and detriment to the band itself. At this point, I have my doubts we will ever see a full complete new album from the Stones while they're still an active band. Best case scenario, a single hopefully prior to the upcoming tour, followed by an EP by the end of 2019 or beginning of 2020 (or when this thread hits 500 pages).
