Palace Revolution 2000
Absolutely. I recall vividly when that boot came out in NYC. The first of the 78 discs. they came fast and furious after that one.
RedHot calls it on HTW. Fantastic intro. It's a groove distilled down to the rawest. What is also so great is the spin Ronnie puts on it, when the lick finally comes in to start the song proper.

Garden State, along with Handsome Girls, Cirkus Stockholm 2003 and Brusselles Affair the best ever boot! Shattered is FUN!!! And the 4 intro songs as usual in '78, GROOVY!!

Is Garden State on par sound-wise with Handsome Girls? If so, it's lightyears better than the Swinging Pig Out On Bail-release..
I better get that Garden State-vinyl anyway.

I think that Garden State 78 on Smilin Dork vinyl is the vinyl equivalent of the HG Box. If you prefer vinyl's sound, then Garden State is the best, period. If you prefer the convenience of digital, the HG Box is quite nice.
The pure, raw, unadulterated sound from the Passaic Capital Theater show was matched only rarely in 78. One other vinyl boot I love from that tour is Hot Flashes Kool Licks from Memphis & Lexington shows. Hound Dog is a charm, Sweet Little Sixteen is smokin' hot, and the Tumbling Dice (as I recall) simply shoots the lights out.

I have Handsome Girls Set (Swinging Pig) on CD, and it sounds amazing, simply because it's a true stereo soundboard, mixed for radio play.
Out On Bail is trebly, very light on bass and unbalanced. It doesn't sound like even a dry soundboard. It's painful to listen to.
What I wondered was whether Garden State (vinyl or/and cd) is a soundboard recording of the Passaic show, which is mixed and sounds as good as Handsome Girls. Many say so, but I haven't come across something from this show of that superb quality.
I will keep looking, mind you

Right! Gotcha!
As I was told long ago, Garden State 78 came from a Stones-crew member's hot-fingering the band's own soundboard recording of the Passaic gig. Thus, it is entirely raw and perhaps only rudimentarily mixed, whereas the HG Box is from the King Biscuit Reels which, when not "no-noised" to death, are state of the art.
Dande, I urge you to find Hot Flashes Kool Licks, which is a lot of the stuff from the Biscuit reels, but on vinyl as opposed to digital. Same great performances and mixes, but analog as opposed to digital.

When OOB first came out Hot Wacks described the quality as "Excellent stereo....it'll blow ya socks off".
The reality is that it's a sbd mix heavy on vocals and drums but light on guitars making it sound very unbalanced.
The yellow/orange vinyl 45 which came with it had SLS on it from the same show and a poor audience recording of Satisfaction from another date if I remember correctly.
