No you right.
Just one guitar perceptible. Quite strange.
I have a personal theory about the guitars on this blues album but well... Keep it for me drinking smiley

Are we just talking about the mix? I hear two guitars in HTSYG. I really like how this song sounds, kudos to Mick for sounding spectacular. But there is a band playing behind him and they song fine also.

No. I mentioned it, since someone launched a conspiracy theory, based on Keith being down in the mix on HTSYG smiling smiley

Both songs sound excellent to my ears.

Music, and how we hear it, is subjective. The eye of the beholder and all. smiling smiley

Well, the ears of this beholder say that you can listen to JYF and answer your own question smiling smiley

"Does Charlie still follow Keith, now that Keith is no longer defining the sound of the band with his signature rhythm riffage, or does everyone now just follow the leader (Mick) instead?"

I've only heard the live version of Fool, but that's neither here nor there. What is here is the topic of this thread, which is See You Go, and my first impression still stands. I wonder how this would have sounded if recorded in 1981 instead, whether Keith would have settled for such a watered down sound. Then again, perhaps there is just something about Chicago style blues that I don't understand.

Ah! I understand. Because if you had heard the single, you wouldn't have doubted who was driving the rhythm. The sound is bafflingly distorted and heavy with runs on the descending parts of the 12 bars.

Any chance that The Stones will do some promotion on TV here in the US because they are hot and really to play right now: Jimmy Fallon or SNL? That'll be cool.
Rock and roll,

There are definetly two guitars in just a fool. But Ronnie's guitar has a very strange distortion on it which makes it sound more than a harmonica than a guitar. At first I thought that Mick has done some harmonica overdubs, but watching the desert trip videos i realized that its actually Ronnie.
I don't really like these strange distortion effects, Micks vocal also has thst strange distortion on it.

Rock and roll,
Mops

If they want to sell more than 30-40k during the first week they should do TV, all the TV work done for Exile was great and the album did sell almost 90k during the first week and it's their best selling album in the US since ABB.

Yes this is a good idea...playing a couple of blues cuts from the new album would be sublime.

Rough Justice

Rain Fall Down

Biggest Mistake
Oh No, Not You Again
Look What The Cat Dragged In
Driving Too Fast

So, he played quite a lot on ABB.

that would've been a good album right there,so ronnie played on all the songs that were worthwhile.

I have to disagree completely! Those two songs belongs to the best ABB-tracks. Add at least Sweet Neo Con (the album´s hidden gem) and Keith´s marvelous ballad. Better get rid of those lame and tame Jagger-songs Biggest Mistake & Let Me Down Slow. But as always, to each his own.

LONESOME AND BLUE
Shirt/packages and official Rolling Stone store
Made it right by me w/ out me contacting them (I am a pretty good customer LOL)
Offered me special price on blue tongue shirt
(as worn by Mick Jagger! it said that!)
since I bought BLUE AND LONESOME record pkg w/out
Nice pick me up for the blues.

hms i like your posts because i'm not a big fan of groupthink and you disagree with nearly everyone all the time.i even think you're right to an extent about dirty work, there is some mean guitar on that record, but neocon?and keith croaking out that ballad? i have to think you're just winding us up on this one.

This Place Is Empty is a very lovely ballad, imo. One of Keith´s best!
I like the exotic flavour of Sweet Neo Con, the stripped down arrangement and last not least it has great guitars and drums and great mean and angry vocals by Mick. It´s a little bit different from the usual Stones-sound but I think it´s a good track.

yeah, maybe if the record was shorter and more focused than the convoluted mess that it is those songs would make sense. but we've all been over this 100 times.

it looks like they may have listened though, the new one has 12 or so songs.

Not that hard, really. I love all of the songs below:

Harlem Shuffle
Had It With You
Sleep Tonight
Cook Cook Blues
Wish I'd Never Met You
Fancyman Blues
Sad Sad Sad
Terrifying
Continental Drift
Almost Hear You Sigh
Hearts For Sale
Break The Spell
Love Is Strong
You Got Me Rocking
The Worst
Moon Is Up
Thru And Thru
Mean Disposition
The Storm
I'm Gonna Drive
Jump On Top Of Me
So Young (1994)
Any Way You Look At It
Flip The Switch
Anybody Seen My Baby
You Don't Have To Mean It
Out Of Control
Saint Of Me
Thief In The Night
How Can I Stop
Keys To Your Love
Losing My Touch
Rough Justice
Let Me Down Slow
Back Of My Hand
This Place Is Empty
Doom And Gloom
One More Shot

Oldies released in this time span:

I'm Not Signifying
So Divine
Title 5
Claudine
Do You Think I Really Care
So Young (1978)
When You're Gone
No Spare Parts
Don't Be A Stranger
I Love You Too Much
Keep Up Blues

Yes Dandy. Our lists are very similar. I was trying hard to edit it down to "first rate". I definitley forgot "Do U think I Care" and "Claudine". But liker you say, they are oldies. And "One More Shot" and "Keys to your Love" I dont quite see as first rate.
You listed all the B Sides, and I opted to name only one. It was almost arbitrary which one I picked - I could have picked "Jump on Top" as well. Good list.
