Whoa, what happened to 'Hate To See You Go' ?
Is this a RS joke, hate to see the song go?
It was on my iPhone download (I preordered the digital release, as well as a CD package from RS.com, who btw, added a t-shirt to their packages after I already bought the package from them without a shirt available)
But that's not my point.
I listened 2x to the full version of RS 'Hate To See You Go'
and *poof* it's gone. Please don't play mind games, it's hard enough.
Would prefer the whole release at once. With 'Crosseyed Heart'
I had misjudged it initially w/ the singles released. Maybe. But I love CH.
And thought Mick sounded mighty fine 'Hate To See You Go' w/ Keith's guitar in the background thumbs up

Keith is indeed a very happy man.....>grinning smiley<

The two songs of Blue And Lonesome I´ve heard so far have more magic than the entire Crosseyed-Heart-album.

Naturally, it is Stones-magic, you can´t have this kind of magic on a solo-albumthumbs up

It's probably mp3 vs wav.

...why don't we stay in the moment KRiffhard...the Stones blues album sounds ridiculously awesome and they are having fun...the 2 new singles scream vintage Stones....all good ingredients for a possible great new album next year....

Would have been really great had they finished just as many original tunes as these blues covers, and even though the originals would probably be lame,
it would have made for a nice balance and resulted in one double album of covers intertwined with originals...

But as it is, I'm happy for a full on blast of the blues Stones style. So far it's great, and no doubt better than any originals they've come up with in the last 30 years or so.

Saying that those Blues-covers are better than any song they´ve recorded in the past 30 years is more than a little bit exaggerated, imo.

It's all a matter of taste HMS - I happen to prefer tried and true blues tunes ala Stones vs. semi-pale Stones originals that are cliche's and shadows of their greatest from the distant past.
To each his own. thumbs up

I think the "new album" could be horrible, more horrible than any Jagger-solo-effort so far. It will be the total opposite of the Blues-album. It will be the most modern and contemporary sounding Jagger-album ever including some riffing by Keith to make sure it can be sold as a "Stones-album". It will be their most different and surprising album since TSMR. Almost no Stones-fan will like it. I hope to be wrong but it is the only explanation for that saying about "different" "surprise" and so on.

good gawd what a nervous nelly

The "new album" was described as "different", "a surprise to many" and so on. That makes me think that it will be a very modern sounding album with lots of drum machinery, electronics and computerized sounds included. Very jaggerized so to speak.

Knowing that not many fans will appreciate that, they now release a back-to-the-roots album for fans only. So if fans complain about the "new album" next year, the Stones will say "We wanted to make something different this time. For you long-time-fans we made a Blues-album, so stop complaining."

No, it's just that those sound tinny and the real download has more bass and drums.

Nah. DIRTY WORK through FIFTY LICKS' 2 new songs: occasional good tunes (VOODOO, BABYLON and BANG have some) and a bunch of bad songs (DIRTY WORK with a bunch of bad songs as well as all of the rest of the studio albums and 2 out of 4 on FORTY LICKS)

There are about 20-25 first-rate songs from 1986-2016. Not bad considering that only a handful of albums were released.

No doubt the Blues-album will be very good but they´ve done quite a few good things in the past 30 years too. We shouldn´t praise the Blues-album in an unreasonable way, like it was done with Crosseyed Heart.

I'm kind of surprised that there isn't going to be an initial run of say, 1000 copies on blue vinyl. Seems like a natural.

We shall praise whatever we like.

You stick to your "20-25 first-rate songs from 1986-2016", and I'll stick with my preferences which encompass most pre- 1982 recordings, Talk is Cheap, Crosseyed Heart, and the new blues tunes we've heard so far.
While we're at it, you can have Mick's entire solo catalogue as well - including his collaborations Superheavy, Alfie, the Blackeyed Pea thing, and as a bonus you get his movie Freejack.

One Hit to the Body
Harlem Shuffle
Had It With You
Mixed Emotions
Continental Drift
Slipping Away
Love Is Strong
The Worst
Out Of Tears
Thru & Thru
Flip The Switch
Anybody Seen My Baby
Out Of Control
Saint Of Me
How Can I Stop
Doom & Gloom
Rough Justice
Laugh I Nearly Died
Under The Radar
The Storm
Like A Rolling Stone
Plundered My Soul

I was just curious; how many songs I would consider first rate in the time span you set. The last two numbers are kind of pushing it; but I come up with 22.
Now, if we were to add solo albums to this the number would fly WAY up. Which is an interesting point in itself. Because it basically negates the notion that J & R have run dry as songwriters. It's just in the 70's they didn't use the outlet of solo albums. Add Ronnie to the solo albums...

More like 40-50 tracks 1986-2016 which are FIRST-RATE.

These years are so underrated it's ridiculous.

Just from the top of my head I reckoned 34 amazing songs in two minutes:

One Hit
Sleep Tonight
Fancy Man Blues
Sad Sad Sad
Mixed Emotions
Rock And A Hard Stone
Can't Be Seen
Slipping Away
Highwire
So Young
Love is Strong
You Got Me Rocking
Out Of Tears
Brand New Car
New Faces
Sweethearts Together
Flip The Switch
Too Tight
Saint Of Me
Out of Control
Already Over Me
How Can I Stop
Don't Stop
Stealing My Heart
Rough Justice
It Won't Take Long
Infamy
Oh No Not You Again
Biggest Mistake
Plundered My Soul
Following The River
No Spare Parts
Do You Think I Really Care
Doom And Gloom

Different taste,different standards...whatever.
One has to scratch the bottom of the barrel to come up with 40-50 first rate songs since '86...I can think of maybe ten or so...if at all.
