The last time Mick got positive "advice" (to say it euphemistically) was at the end of the 70s when punk kicked in. The message of punk was simple: have fun, don't pretend, be wild, go crazy. Oh, and have fun. And even though Mick and Keith didn't agree on the merits of punk (or disco), the message helped the Stones, for a short while, kicking some ass again.
Unfortunately, punk evolved into new-wave and the Stones evolved into what they are now.
Elton is 100% right about the main problem (but not about the solution): Keith and Mick not agreeing.
But they recorded Some Girls a return to form and in IMHO an innovative and great Album.

Hats off to Elton, but many of us have been saying this for years!

Many good points here and didn`t have the time to read it all, but did really Elton John say that? It sounds like blowing up open doors. We all know this, but I know how flat a "blues" song could sound (Back of My Hand). However, I believe in digging deep and unlocking the code to make blues anew.

Mick, what's the problem with 'old-fashioned equipment'?!
I know, you prefer your 'cold' pro tools demos recorded with Matt Clifford...

we know you can't help yourself...and no you aren't biased...just any opportunity to take even the slightest comment out of context to supplicate your narrative..

I've just been comparing his being anti-nostalgia and old-fashioned equipment with his use of drum loop and Pro-Tools. That's all.

Elton should do some keyboards on the new album. He was a good session player before his career took off. It might be a change from Chuck, too, even if only for a song or two.
