Finally seeing "Western Stars" film. It's really, really good.

Interesting to read that Steve think the 4-hour shows are too much.
Even as a big Bruce fan, the 4-hour show I attended at Giants Stadium in 2016 tested the limits of my endurance.

I was also at one of those 4 hour shows in 2016 at Giants and as a massive Bruce fan, I'm not sure it actually being 4 hours meant anything. Don't get me wrong, was fun, and I saw a lot of things I'd never caught before, but there was no direction to the show and it seemed to only be 4 hours just to say he can play that long. it was not enhanced at all by being that long. Whereas I've seen him do 3 hour shows that feel like they have a purpose. I'd gladly take 2 and a half hour shows the rest of his career that have a theme and focus to them. Endlessly playing your stuff? When you do that there still has to be a flow, a build. Otherwise its just a random shuffle that inevitably leads to a lot of lulls, even if I love all your songs.
I'd wanna see the Stones play 4 hours, but if it was all hits I'd probably leave. I think I'd be really bored if its stuff I've heard a million times and its never ending. 2 hours of hits I can take. 4 hours, I'd only want things I'd never heard, and even then it might seem a little long to me.
Yeah, I actually found the concert largely aimless. Although it was historic and always fun to see him in NJ, the show lacked a sense of urgency and flow.Quote

That's been my one complaint of Bruce's sound over the years...the guitars have always competed with the keyboards and end up sounding thin in comparison. If he cranked up the distortion more and let it fly along with Stevie and Nils, WOW.Quote

listening to a tape of the light of day show. fantastic! bruce is totally ripping on guitar on it. IMHO he's a very underrated guitar player. some of that is his fault because he didn't really feature guitar heavy on the records (for the most part). sounds like he is having a real good time.

I'm not saying they don't have those moments, but I wish they were more numerous.

Well that's a major bummer, if true. I wonder what the hell's going on?
That didn't come to mind...very possible. Such a shame...she seemed like such a joyful, energetic woman even in her old age.Quote

His mother is very old and has alzheimers. There's no real "leading" theory, but she's like 90 or something, so potentially she's taken a turn for the worse and he just wants to not make long term plans and be around her.
