I was into listening to stride piano for a while, James P. Johnson and the like ...used to play it for my students sometimes. Good stuff.

On the other hand, who is the best Reggae-flutist ever?

Awesome! Best thing I've seen all day.

Actually I've got a friend from Texas nick named Fluteman John and he was befriended by the Wailers and played a bunch of shows with them. He ripped some pretty good flute on a bunch of those classic Wailers tunes.

Then we will choose Fluteman John as the best reggae-flutist simply...grinning smiley

Thought about Garth, but he was mostly an organ player. Richard Manuel played most of the piano in The Band.

I like Billy Powell, he was a great boogie-woogie stylist, I just don't feel he rates as the greatest.

Not sure if Benmont Tench has been mentioned.

Another vote for The Killer. The man defined rock 'n' roll piano.
