If they are, and the fact that Mick has a stockpile of his demos (and is adamant they all be used), I'd hate to be a fly on the wall right now.
Can only imagine the shit flying around in there. grinning smiley

It has been confirmed by Ronnie and Mick. Specifically Ronnie said last Friday he would see Keith in the studio tomorrow , with Mick saying studio time was booked. Not sure how much more confirmation you need.

What I've love to know is who is in there with them...Jack White? Don Was? Chris Kimsey? Or are they just throwing songs around without any producer to see what sticks?

When Pierre posted on Facebook that he was off to London, Kimsey replied "call me!", for what it's worth..

Be content with their past legacy. Many Classic albums. They will indeed do
some recording but it can never hit those past high notes. Today is just a
different time, different motivation, different recording routine and a much older-settled band. Or maybe I'm wrong.....I hope so! Sincerely looking forward
To this next chapter - whatever it may be.

You hit the nail right on the head. They are not even a band in a recording context, they are just musicians that get together to record.

Many may disagree with me but I think the best Rolling Stones recording output over the past 26 years has been when they don't try to "be the Stones." Many of their soft rock songs and ballads and related tunes are quite listenable. They are not remarkable and they don't stand out like "Beast of Burden" but it doesn't matter. They have done quite a bit of nice stuff where they are clearly just trying to be musicians and craft a tune and do a technically nice recording and find some nice sounds. I think that they are freer and more relaxed when they do that. They don't have the pressure to put out another "Start Me Up" when they just relax and record stuff simply for the pleasure of doing the craft.

So I actually would welcome a low-stress album where there are no original rock songs or rock and roll songs. I have a feeling that any hard rockers will come off as weak and even disingenuous. Look at "Gloom and Doom" which clearly has not aged well or stands up to multiple plays.

I am also down on the concept of an all-Blues album. I think that the Rolling Stones have covered that territory quite well and quite thoroughly. Over the past few albums I feel like the Blues songs have been more or less token contributions.

So that's my ideal scenario: Just have them get together with no pressure, and record songs that are ballads, soft rock, possibly one or two slow rockers. Nothing more than that. Let them do whatever they truly feel like doing, none of this crap to produce "product." We don't need another JJF from the boys, they have been there and done that, and they can't even get close to that.

Suppose they get together with the intentions I described and they record and nothing gells and it doesn't feel right? If that happens then they should simply not release anything.

I've got no expectations of "another strong Stones album." If they made genuine and honest recordings that were mostly laid back and they were happy with what they did, then great. But if we get a song like "Gloom and Doom II" it will not be something that I would feel good about.

Are we basing Chris Kimsey's involvement solely on a social media remark to Pierre de Beauport to call him and mixing it with Kimsey recently collaborating with Steve Jordan? Isn't that 2 + 2 = 5?

For starters, if Kimsey were truly back, wouldn't he be talking to someone higher up than Pierre and wouldn't he know better than to do so on social media publicly?

If this session is anything more than listening to demos and rehearsing a bit, I would expect to see Don Was back in the control room.

Remember when Mick was in Nashville a few weeks ago and some of us were convinced Jack White was producing the next album...again?

I can confirm they are recording at OLympic. Good source.

So, what can we expect? It's marvellous they are in a studio, but is this sufficient time to cut a studio-album? I wouldn't be surprised if they're working on a few downloadable tracks to coincide with the upcoming shows: a single and a few 'extras' perhaps.

Didn't Olympic close down in 2009? Replaced by a cinema or something? Is there another Olympic?
