Having a blast watching this.
We get to see lots of bill compared to the other releases.
Who's the third singer apart from Bernard and lisa?
Or is one of them not Lisa?
Keith is so low in the mix...

The 'modern' Stones would get blown off the stage by the 1999 Stones, the 1989 Stones, the 1981 Stones, the '78 Stones and the '73 Stones.

They are 70 plus genius.

Please explain. My ears aren't hearing it. How are they better?

Of course the older versions of the band are better than today .
They are OVER 70 YEARS OLD, GENIUS!

Jagger, matt clifford and chuck look like back to the future
Or the cosby show.
While it was already 1990 and techno had started.
Is there a big edit at the start of midnight rambler?

My stuff arrived yesterday!

I got the LP's and cd's.In each you get the copy of the dvd.

I have not watched the dvd yet,but the sound quality on the cd's are amazing!

My favourite has to be the version of "Almost hear you sigh",it is better than the original.....however not quite as good as Keef's solo vocal version.C

The packaging of both is great.Quality pictures etc.

The cd packaging contains an interesting booklet and a forward written by Richard Havers. He mentions Cindy Mizelle, and praises her for her efforts on Gimme Shelter. Not a mention of Lisa here.I always assumed it was Lisa who gave the song clout.??????

Anyhow still got to watch the dvd,and work out was it Cindy or Lisa who dominate Gimme Shelter,or both?

I'm enjoying the CDs. Matt Clifford gets a special mention in the sleeve notes, which is odd, as Chuck Levell was also an addition.

Great sound but... the CDs would have been better with Keith in the right channel and Ron in the left one !
Unfortunately it is the opposite !

I thought this issue was limited to the Japanese edition but obviously not !

PS : the DVD is OK

Chuck Leavell was not an addition on the Steel Wheels-Urban Jungle Tour. He first played on the '82 European Tour with Ian Stewart.

Lots of different angles from what we have seen for years. Sound on the blu ray kicks ass. I could hear Matt Cliffords synthesizer keyboard a little too much on some songs which showcases the Vegas sound. I really picked it up on Gimme Shelter. oh, and was somebody in Chucks family part of the editing because you see his hands a real lot tickling the ivories.

Is the bluray true widescreen or cropped? I got the dvd and it's pillar box which is how I assume it was originally filmed.

Ward Records(Japanese edition) are making replacement CD/LP with correct LR channel.
The corrected CDs had already shipped to buyers.
New LP will be shipped on November.

How is Eagle Rock edition?
Is there any informastion about replacement?

Great show! Anybody knows what horrible tune Matt Clifford is playing between the ending of 2000 Light Years and start of Sympathy For The Devil?

Wow. Watching this today and blown away. This tour was the 1st opportunity I had to see my favorite band (I'm 48) and watching this brought back so many good memories. Even the songs I didn't think I liked (Harlem Shuffle, Rock In A Hard Place, Sad Sad Sad) I enjoyed thoroughly. Got me in a very reflective mood. We are so incredibly fortunate that we love this band. We have gotten so much. 50+ years, the albums, the tours, the books, the documentaries, an incredible array of recorded concerts, solo albums etc. No other band can come remotely close. Thank you Mick, Keith, Charlie, Ronnie, Bill and all the backing musicians. My favorite tour of the "modern era" is the Voodoo Lounge tour. Can't wait for the Miami or the Giants stadium show to be released from the vaults. Have them on VHS and haven't watched them in years. Anyway I'm sure there are many great things to come and I look forward to them all.

Did the bluray come with the cd's? Amazon still says it's 3 discs...I hate it when Amazon does this, I'd prefer the bluray if I knew it came with the cd's also.angry smiley

The same intermission music he played on every show, I presume..

Thanks, other than the sound being better on the bluray, if it's an sd bluray is the video really any better than the dvd?

Interesting listening to Gimme Shelter having heard Lisa sing it for the last 8 US tours, not that this versions is bad but It's not as good as any version I've heard her do.

Though I thought she had other commitments and missed the European leg of this tour yet it mentions her in the credits.

What's the story there?

i think it was Cindy Miselle? instead of Lisa that did the solo in Gimme.

Yes it's Cindy Mizelle. Read the liner notes and watch the dvd. I think she did a great vocal, but is too low in the mix. She should have been louder.
........In 1990 Lisa was as thin as Mick is now......

PS edit: Bill did miss the reheasals in Tokyo and/or was flying to Japan later because his father died I seem to remember reading somewhere. He was not present at the pressconference for sure.

Are the channels switched (Keith on the left) on the cd's that came with the bluray set?

My edition came witbout the cd's.
I just got the vinyls as well.
These days i prefer bluray and where it is not available i pick up the vinyl.
For the stones i tend to pick up both.
Left and right channel thing i never noticed anything but the flac file download for tokyo was correct i think. At least i never noticed anything weird with it.

The cd's that came with the dvd have the channels switched. I bought the download when it came out and yes, it was correct. Anybody who got the bluray w/cd's notice this on theirs?

Very impressed with this release. My previous 89/90 experiences had only been with Flashpoint and At the Max - both fine releases, but both made it clear to my ears why this tour was always referred to as the birth of the Vegas Stones.

In this show, though? They're a hard working, guitar driven rock band. The keys and horns only seem to complement the guitars, never overpower them. Keith, Jagger, and Charlie are all on the top of their game here. Ronnie seems missing in action much of the time, but this tour also didn't feature very many show pieces for him. If Shattered hadn't blown up the generators on the first night, it would have been interesting to see what he brought to that.

2 minor things I think are a little sad now with the benefit of hindsight - Sad Sad Sad and Can't Be Seen are both a little like the ghost of Richards future. SSS being dominated by those three note bends which comprise too much of his playing these days, and Can't Be Seen dominated by dancin/goofing around rather than any interesting playing/singing.

All in all a terrific release.
