Let's be realists here -

Three 80 year old men on a truncated tour - they are slowing down - will it even be 19 songs this time?

It'll be the same set as always with a couple new songs tossed in - FOR NOW - they won't be switching stuff up because it's a LOT OF WORK to do that with a HUGE show - it's all choreographed with the cameras and stuff - i sincerely would LOVE them to go out and switch it up but they are playing to the masses and not to the IORR gang -

How many people that get a round of corporate tickets to grease the palm of a business associate wanna hear "Dreamy Skies"? - they dont even know the new record

I hope I'm wrong

Spoilsport !

Come on cowboy ..allow us our moments of optimistic anticipation grinning smiley

Open this tour with a hard hitting short version of "Brown Sugar".
We all know that they have to play the "Hits".
HD will get 3-4 songs including Keith's song.

Side note since I don't post very much. BV, you ROCK and thanks for everything!

Time to put Midnight Rambler aside, great tune but I can get 2 songs for one. Either an extra Hackney song, Dreamy Skies segued into Short and Curlies and then Mothers little helper.

Personally Rambler is the tune I look forward to every show, but you caught my attention with Short and Curlies. I dig that tune! And no one else here seems to like it

Isn't it a shame that Heart of stone doesn't work in a stadium? It's one of their great early songs! Same goes for Dandelion, btw...

Average setlist for 2024 tour will look like this (18 or 19 songs, they are 80+ old men now):

Street Fighting Man
Let's Spend The Night Together
Tumbling Dice
Angry
Sweet Sounds Of Heaven
Angie
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Honky Tonk Women
--- Band introductions
You Got The Silver (Keith)
Happy (Keith)
Miss You
Midnight Rambler
Paint It Black
Start Me Up
Gimme Shelter
Jumping Jack Flash
--- Band off stage
Sympathy For The Devil
Satisfaction

I’d say this is the most realistic, even over-realistic, hence most boring setlist prediction I’ve seen so far. I’d be deeply disappointed to see if they play this selection in Houston, the tour opener, saddened but not so surprised, and regret if I had booked a ticket, a flight and a hotel, going all the way from abroad.

It wouldn’t be too optimistic, though, to further assume that YGTS be swapped with TMS as well as one more song with WWW, i.e. four songs in all from the new album — that’s my good guess.

We will see.

P.S.
MR is a must, a warhorse I’ve never tired of, although I wouldn’t miss MY and YCAGWYW, among others.

two new songs in a row? 98% of concertgoers won't be able to cope with this…

No Filter / Sixty is over. There might be a different opening song this time, as rehearsals showed, and probably a longer setlist for the opening night, just as with the start of the No Filter tour in 2017 (22 songs). Before that (2014-16) they played 18-19 songs on average.

Here's my 19 song set . A new era and an album they are proud of ? I'll be disappointed if we still have 25 minutes of Rambler / Miss You . We'll see shortly..........

(I Can't Get No)Satisfaction
Shattered
Angry
Tumbling Dice
Whole wide World
Miss You (short version)
Bite My Head off
Beast Of Burden
Honky Tonk Women
Mess It Up
Paint It Black

Tell Me Straight
Little T&A

Sympathy For The Devil
Start Me Up
Gimme Shelter
Street Fighting Man

Sweet Sound Of Heaven
Jumping Jack Flash

Obviously there's plenty of room for swaps , old and new .

How did they cope with that on the Bridges to Babylon tour, where Saint of Me and Out of Control were routinely played back-to-back?

Question: how did the rehearsals show there might be a different opening song? Just curious as to how you deduced that.

I was just thinking Gimme Shelter + intro means the show intro. But now that I'm reading the comments over there it might indeed just be the song intro :/

Hmm.. could it be that what they did a quarter century ago is not the best possible way to back up an argument... They, like their audience, have changed since then.. smiling smiley

That said, pragmatic conservatism surely rules, but I wouldn't be that surprised if they choose to play some new tunes in a row. You know, giving HACKNEY DIAMONDS a little two song slot of its own. At least give it a try.

They would never place YCAGWYW and Sweet Sounds Of Heaven as close as this in the setlist. And Keith will definitely play Tell Me Straight. Why wouldn't he?

It looks like they've been rehearsing most of HD.

Time will tell...

And that said... The idea of starting the show with "Gimme Shelter" I am afraid might make "Scarf Me Up" innocent business... The intro is not easiest for Keith's fingers these days, no matter how economically he tends to deliver it. In the flow of the concert it works, but that of Keith on his own starting the whole show with it, while everybody in the house still having fresh and concentrated ears, well, that would ask some balls from them...smileys with beer

Those brave young men... who already were seen as old farts back in 1978 and who needed to prove that they were not yesterday's papers just relying on old classic material. That of playing eight (!) new songs in a row was a statement. The previous tours from 1972 to 1976 were like greatest hits packages compared to that... The more brave it was considering that not all of their audiences already back then were that thrilled of hearing so many new songs in a row. But it was a part of having kicked at their ass by the punk at the time. They needed to have a new relevance with their new stuff, even by the cost of what their old fans think.

I hope they will have a little bit of that SOME GIRLS era attitude now... after more than a decade playing just old classic stuff they have new stuff to show off...

Spot on.
More than Some Girls the record, Some Girls the tour reflected the punk ‘attitude’ in its ‘@#$%& we don’t care what fans think’ setlist.

One can dream. Steve Jordan is a big fan of Moonlight, so there's some hope. Maybe one show of the tour, in the ballad slot?
