Re: Semi-OT: IORR jam

I´ve been revisiting some songs, and thought of a good mix that could be realistic to start with from my end (if I´m doing the first rhythm track):

Sweet Black Angel
Back Street Girl
I Am Waiting
Time Is On My Side
Bitch
Let It Loose
Midnight Rambler
Beast Of Burden
Stop Breakin´Down
Down In The Hole
Time Waits For No One
Before They Make Me Run
Slave
We Had It All

Great setlist DP. There is not one song on there I would not like to hear.

But I'm easy I like everything Stones. Warhorses included.

I reckon people would have complained had the Stones played this is Colombus smiling smiley

I'm only in if we all travel in separate limos! Seriously though, sounds great albeit a logistical nightmare...I'm in the north of England so probably not best situated for getting together, but would happily lend my skills as a guitarist...I'd particuarly like to play Sweet Virginia and Let IT Loose.

Cool, CM! We start to record something, and pass the sound files around to complete it. THEN we meet up and play it for thousands of IORRians, LOL!

Or at least something like that winking smiley

Cool idea Ben! As far as recording, what would a full day at Abbey Road Studios cost, always wanted to see the inside. Hey I'll throw in the first 500 pounds (~$750) towards the cost...

CM, I'm in London and DP's in Norway so an actual meetup sometime is by no means out of the question, but yes, looks like we're going to flesh out some demos between us in the meantime. DP, that's a great setlist, thanks for doing this! No rush, but if you wanted to send me a rhythm part for Stop Breaking Down sometime I'll add some slide parts to it, and I'm also happy to take a run at Beast and Rambler.

I'm not sure, but willing to bet it works out a lot cheaper than IORR's private concert will...

May I handle the BANQUET and entertainment for these jam sessions.

I could also bring some unsavory ladies and some great party favors.

This is exciting. I'm ready to fly out.

Hey Dandie, I love the idea and would be willing to participate but what are we talking about here? Multitrack files sent around the world? A live jam at some studio in Europe? Stones covers or is someone going to write a tune for the occasion?

Seems like it might get a bit busy with all the guitarists and other players here so I'm just as willing to sit back and see how this turns out but if you need me I'm there for you brother.

peace

The multitrack idea sounds wonderful. I wanna play slide!

Re: Semi-OT: IORR jam
Date: May 31, 2015 23:23

Great, NL and Nikkei!

We'll record some songs first, and take it from there. I'll start laying down some rhythm tracks to the songs I listed up in this thread. I suggest that others can do the same with other songs, if they like.

We'll pass the audio files around and overdub. Maybe we can organise this via e-mail in a group chat? Send me an e-mail and I'll copy you in on what we've been discussing so far.

We have musicians who play many different instruments. This will be great fun!

You really need to get this together soon. My dad is talking about treatment again. I told him I would go away for the 28 days right after the Zip Code tour. That way I can get tuned up for South America.

Let's get it on.

Of course!

Can you do the initial tracks on them, with piano/keys and wurlitzer?

IMO the best thing we can do for the moment is get everyone interested into the same email thread so we can discuss properly off-list. If you email me or DP, we can forward you the existing thread and add you to it.

I'm likewise happy to do a couple of basic guitar tracks from the list I posted above and send them to anyone who wants them:

...No Expectations, Love In Vain, HTW, perhaps one of their live Chuck Berry numbers, Sway, Knockin', You Gotta Move, Sister Morphine, Shake Your Hips, ADTL, Stop Breaking Down, Silver Train, Winter, Hey Negrita, Black Limo, Worried About You.

DP had Stop Breakin' Down on his list as well so I'm happy to leave that one to him, but otherwise if there's any of these you'd particularly like to play on let me know and I'll see what I can do.

@crumblin_mice, djgab and Nikkei: Can you email me?

I'm gonna start with the first backing tracks tonight. We need to structure this - sort out who wants to play what and which songs etc. If you email me, I will copy you in on what we've been discussing so far.

This sounds fantastic guys smiling smiley Very good luck to you all. I don't think there will be any setlist complaints here! I can only volunteer to be an audience member but I live 80 miles (130km) west of London so if you do any kind of gig I'm defintely in.

As long as you don't charge too much for FoS tickets >grinning smiley<

For the IORR Fan Song Vote I vote for 'I wanna be your man' winking smiley

DP & Gibsonman, no doubt you're well aware that Macca is playing at the Telenor in July. I saw him twice last week and he's on fire! Got great reviews here too. Didn't do IWBYM though. I'm pretty sure Ringo sang their version.

A decade ago, there were at least two cd's put together by Stones fans' recordings. One of them was called "Street Fighting Fans".
I remember some quite cool versions of a few tracks:
"Let It Rock" played by an american unnamed band.
"Loving Cup" played acoustic by a guy and his guitar.
"Monkey Tonk Man" a blues-hybrid of the 'Honky Tonk' and 'Monkey Man' tracks.
"Tumbling Dice" a bluegrass version.
"Gimme Shelter" played by an unnamed band, supposedly recorded in the early seventies.
