When did Mick buy and sell Stargroves? I heard at one time a retired F1 driver owned it after Mick, followed later by Rod Stewart. A couple of the photos in the thread above show Jagger seated on a couch at Stargroves. Looks like a fairly recent photo. Was he just visiting his old house?

Mick and Charlie returned to Stargroves for the filming of Stones in Exile.

Look at the size of that place for such a modest bachelor...
There must be 14 or so rooms that have never met Mick

For the life of me, I never understood why these rock stars back then lived in these places. I know they had illusions of rock royalty etc..
but these homes look creepy. How'd you like to have to the bathroom in the middle of the night in those dark, austere hallways. Seriously, it looks like something from an Edgar Allan Poe story.

Creepy?

Well maybe in the middle of the night!

Ok, that looks fancy and nice. What year are these pics?
Still, I have a thing about really, old and big houses.

Isn't there a section of Stones in Exile where Mick and Charlie revisit the place?

I'll take the house, but the wallpaper has to go.

Many years ago I used to do some work at Ramsbury Manor, owned by Harry Hyams.

Very eerie inside and always very dark. He was a nice enough bloke and a recluse at the time. His wife had been bedridden for years and very few visitors to the house. Hadn't been seen in the village for years as always chauffeur driven with blacked out windows.

I imagine Stargroves is nothing like that, and more modern in the interior looking at the pics.

Ramsbury Manor was like an Edgar Alan Poe scene from the interior, but not from the exterior of the building.

Mick owned it from 1970 to 1979. Rod Stewart owned it in 1998 but only for a few months and apparently never lived there.

I thought he owned it up to 1975. He lived there up to 1971, then his brother Chris lived in it until it was sold in 1975.

I believe the pictures are from the last couple of years .

But can I convince you to stay in George Harrison's Friar Park (120-room Victorian neo-Gothic mansion in Henley-on-Thames)?

Another one of the Who in 1971.That's Dougal Butler on the left who wrote the book "Full Moon" about Keith Moon. Don't know who is on the right of Keith!

This is an image shot by Michael Cooper inside the mobile.
Supposedly its at Nellcote, but one never knows with Coopers images.
The jersey Anita is wearing is seen on Keith or her from late 69 to late 71.

In the photo is Miller, Johns, Pallenberg and two unidentified. Maybe someone knows who they are.

Way cool pic! The guy to the far right looks like it could be Marshall Chess, but I don't know if that makes sense at all. (He probably went to France during the Exile sessions, but I'm not sure.)

Oops, okay, I thought the guy at the tape machine was Miller, just because he was mentioned first. Actually he looks a bit like Michael Campbell from Tom Petty's Heartbreakers. smiling smiley
