TornAndFried..Any chance of a second Auckland concert?

Of course it is possible...but probably not as likely of there being additional shows in Australia. It's also possible they could do a second New Zealand show in another city such as Christchurch. It's way too early to speculate at this point.

What is the honest assessment of the likelihood of Adelaide being declared too much effort, and extra Melbourne shows being added as may have been speculated?

They will very likely play in Adelaide when they return to Australia, however, it's possible there may be a change of venue if the Oval is not available then. The promoters would have to issue full refunds if they had to cancel Adelaide outright and they would very much like to avoid having to do that. It's also possible they will add shows in Sydney, Melbourne, and maybe even Canberra. Stay tuned here.

The only alternative venue is the Adelaide Entertainment Centre with a capacity of 12000 roughly. This venue is probably cheaper per night to hire but would require 4 nights to meet demand. The upside is that the people who were going to be in the stands or GA at Adelaide Oval, will be much closer to the action in any seat at the Entertainment Centre.

I'm sure both Frontier Touring and the Rolling Stones are doing everything they can to reschedule the Adelaide show for the Oval, even if it means having to wait until November or early 2015. The alternative would be a big, expensive headache!

Hope we get some news maybe next week.

Even a 'get ready fans, tour is on, details coming' kind of thing.

There's an interesting complication to do with the (re-)scheduling of the Hanging Rock show - if indeed it's not considered too sensitive a name of a place to have a show.

The Promoter's initial licence for shows runs out on October 31st.

But shows are BANNED from April 1st to October 31st due the the breeding season of a rare type of owl.

So that means that the promoter has "lost" one of his agreed licenced show slots on his old agreement.

The (already agreed) new licence for a total of 4 show per year for 5 years starts on October 31st, so the earliest that any re-scheduled show could happen would be that date onwards.

But would the Council (who do the licence) consider a re-scheduled Stones' show as one of four under the new licence (in which case the Promoter has really lost one slot) or as a "special".

Either way, if it happens, it means that it has to take place when the weather is at the warmest in the suggested timeslots, and that has to be good.

If they do reschedule the show for any earlier than October 31 perhaps they will finally do a full "unplugged" concert. Either that or that owl goes extinct!

And considering the circumstances it seems reasonable the local council would make an exception and not count the cancelled show as one of the promoter's slots. The Stones could make a donation to a local charitable trust or something to make the town board happy. Money talks, and the show will be bringing lots of dollars into the local economy.

I think there's a good chance that the Hanging Rock And Rod Laver gigs will be rescheduled around about the time of the Melbourne Cup public holiday on Tuesday, the 4th of November and the previous weekend.
Also, the latest date that the Adelaide ground would be required for football is late September, so there shouldn't be any issues with a Oct/Nov reschedule.

TornAndFried..I honsetly believe Mick and others won't want to do a concert at Hanging Rock it just won't happen I'll put money on it because of the name of the place..and thats understandable.

That is an unfortunate name considering the circumstances. Is there a suitable alternative venue nearby?

I'm sure time heals, and by Nov Hanging Rock could just be a venue name, with little connotation about the sad event Mick suffered.
Could be wrong tho!

As I've posted in the Melbourne thread, the name is simply an awful co-incidence. The thing that's hanging not far from where I'm sitting is a ROCK.

This is it [www.google.com.au]

It's a huge rock that's hanging between two others forming a sort of tunnel.

But, yes, I agree that the name may be too sensitive (unless they rename the show The Mount Macedon Show).

I should be in the VIP pit queue right now. Might have even already been in venue. Hustling for the rail on Keefs side.

It's been a sad week for Mick and the stones family and an emotional one for us fans too. The guilt at feeling sad for missing out on long awaited shows whilst knowing Mick and LWrens family have been hit by that awful emotion grief has been tough.

Stones fans stick together tho and we can't wait to welcome Mick and the boys back in Australia soon. It will be very emotional when Mick comes out roostering again.

Well its a strange night for me. 8000 miles from home and no show.
To make the irony worse, my hotel is right across the street from Rod Laver- I can see the arena sign from my room. Not all so bad- great town with great pubs and I saw a "footy" game last night in the Stadium that's also across the street. There seems to be a Stones tribute band playing tomorrow- so I will probably go see that before flying back on Sunday.

An expensive lesson in non- refunable flights!

Yes Melb is a great city for: rock'n roll, coffee, comedy but sadly no Stones tonight.

"There seems to be a Stones tribute band playing tomorrow" would be at Cherry bar off Flinders Lane tomorrow night has the Goats Head Soup tribute gig with local musos - Cherry bar is always worth going to as it's run by James "the Hound Dog" Young who is a Stones fanatic. James snaffled Keith's vodka glass after their Melb press conference for the voodoo lounge tour 19 years ago this week.

He also finished off the rest of the liquid in it just so he could say he and Keith shared a drink!

There is also a tribute event by the most awesome band Dynamo at a warehouse in Northcote on Sunday afternoon- search the Facebook event 'Aint No Use In Cryin'

Well - I hope to make it back. In the near term, having survived the Crown Casino tonight, I will be at the Cherry Bar tomorrow.

Oh that would be great. November I could arrange again. I should have been also inline for Melbourne and all other Arena Shows. Well things Change. I must admit that both Ticketmaster and Ticketet were great with the refund. As it is just to long and I was not sure how it would work out I took the refund Option, as I would rather book again.
So far I lost only a Little Money on the cancellation of my airtickets. But I would not take such a long flight for such a short Holiday. It was and will be for the only last and best rock and roll band around.

Couldn't get to the GHS gig as still recovery from recent ankle surgery, maybe next time as it sounded like a great show. The version of You got the Silver that RRR played yesterday morning was superb. Shane O'Mara from the GHS band was talking about how difficult Coming down again is to play.....
