What is the honest assessment of the likelihood of Adelaide being declared too much effort, and extra Melbourne shows being added as may have been speculated?
They will very likely play in Adelaide when they return to Australia, however, it's possible there may be a change of venue if the Oval is not available then. The promoters would have to issue full refunds if they had to cancel Adelaide outright and they would very much like to avoid having to do that. It's also possible they will add shows in Sydney, Melbourne, and maybe even Canberra. Stay tuned here.

The only alternative venue is the Adelaide Entertainment Centre with a capacity of 12000 roughly. This venue is probably cheaper per night to hire but would require 4 nights to meet demand. The upside is that the people who were going to be in the stands or GA at Adelaide Oval, will be much closer to the action in any seat at the Entertainment Centre.

There's an interesting complication to do with the (re-)scheduling of the Hanging Rock show - if indeed it's not considered too sensitive a name of a place to have a show.
The Promoter's initial licence for shows runs out on October 31st.
But shows are BANNED from April 1st to October 31st due the the breeding season of a rare type of owl.

If they do reschedule the show for any earlier than October 31 perhaps they will finally do a full "unplugged" concert. Either that or that owl goes extinct!
And considering the circumstances it seems reasonable the local council would make an exception and not count the cancelled show as one of the promoter's slots. The Stones could make a donation to a local charitable trust or something to make the town board happy. Money talks, and the show will be bringing lots of dollars into the local economy.
TornAndFried..I honsetly believe Mick and others won't want to do a concert at Hanging Rock it just won't happen I'll put money on it because of the name of the place..and thats understandable.

I'm sure time heals, and by Nov Hanging Rock could just be a venue name, with little connotation about the sad event Mick suffered.
Could be wrong tho!

Yes Melb is a great city for: rock'n roll, coffee, comedy but sadly no Stones tonight.
"There seems to be a Stones tribute band playing tomorrow" would be at Cherry bar off Flinders Lane tomorrow night has the Goats Head Soup tribute gig with local musos - Cherry bar is always worth going to as it's run by James "the Hound Dog" Young who is a Stones fanatic. James snaffled Keith's vodka glass after their Melb press conference for the voodoo lounge tour 19 years ago this week.

I think there's a good chance that the Hanging Rock And Rod Laver gigs will be rescheduled around about the time of the Melbourne Cup public holiday on Tuesday, the 4th of November and the previous weekend.
Also, the latest date that the Adelaide ground would be required for football is late September, so there shouldn't be any issues with a Oct/Nov reschedule.
