Rubbish!

Bill Wyman still records and tours at age 77. Why would Mick and Keith want to stop at 70?

This band will never end.

Whatever happens, what an incredible swath they cut through history. I can remember many times with my friends in the 1970s where people were saying that it would all sputter out and end within a few years. They were already "too old." They did have long periods of inactivity and they haven't even been a true band since the late 1970s. When I have seen them, at some point I would think to myself, "These guys are a direct link to the 1960s and all that happened back then!" It's kind of profound.

What a blast through history, they will never be forgotten. Just like the Beatles. I still listen to Rocks Off and feel the blast.

Sounds like typical promoter's talk. If they do end touring it will likely be in London or maybe NYC.

Or Toronto, their beloved city !

PS : I'm from Holland winking smiley

I think they missed San Diego and Denver last year.
They must come back. They won't leave us up in the air.

They hardly touched the East Coast, or the South on their 2013 U.S. tour. It's hard to imagine them not doing a multiple night stand at Madison Square Garden before it's all over.

Yeah, Melbourne will simply be their last... confirmed show ever at the end of the year.

The Stones' offshoot band, WTF & K (pronounced "W T effin' K") could start touring in early 2015 between these mini-Stones tours. WTF&K, aka the Wood, Taylor, Fowler and Keys band would play a broad range of Stones, blues, solo, R n B and Dylan songs to keep us warm in between any reduced future outings with Jagger, Keith and Charlie.

Auckland is halfway around the world from Europe whether you fly in east or west i.e. via Asia or USA. It takes 24 hours either way. I just did that flight... They might start or end the tour in Auckland. They might do a stopover in Honolulu or Miami. Many options.

I just got back from Auckland with my gracious host Kahoosier....what a beautiful city! I would suspect the Stones would want very much to get back there (as do I)

stop over in Miami then they might as well do Houston and Atlanta!

I have no idea why these two threads were merged. If the question was would they ever end a show with TWFNO I doubt it would have been slapped in here pointlessly to confuse things as it has.

However, I don't see them ever playing it and as for the last show I don't envisage the Stones ever really discussing it. It will just be when it is not by design I think.

this merging does get confusing

back to thread re Cherry Bar saying they have it on good authority that Stones last EVER show will be in Melbourne.

It's not like them to spread crap news, or is it ?

OK,

So the Tour was postponed on the Tuesday before the Saturday Adelaide concert.

Was anything ever said about who was due to be Support at Adelaide (or Hanging Rock)?

I was thinking 30 Second To Mars in Adelaide. As a thank you for 30 Seconds bumping their Rod Laver gig to Hisense for the Stones

I hope, and pray, that this is nothing more than idle speculation in your head! I read some reviews of the 'bumped' show and they had to be among the worst reviews I've ever seen.

I read the same reviews! Eeeew.

I was also thinking Dan Sultan ?

And I guess any frontier act for Adelaide or HR.

Please no 'special guests' with the Stones tho.

Local tradition says it should have been Cold Chisel. Failing that then lead singer Jimmy Barnes. 57 but still an unnaturally superb rock/soul/blues singer. Did a couple of tunes recently with Joe Bonamassa on Joe's album.

I hope, and pray, that this is nothing more than idle speculation in your head! He supported Springsteen at Hanging Rock last year and he was AWFUL.

He may have been good 20 years ago, but he's totally lost it.

It was a bit like The Emperor's New Clothes. He has lost his voice (but not his energy & enthusiasm) and everyone is too polite to tell him to stop.
