I'm not a fan of covers.
Stones live time is too precious these days.
I want my band playing their songs.
Selfish I know.

Completely agree.

Stones do fantastic covers and some of them are among the best things they have ever done. Would not mind a full set of covers!

I'm in the camp that loves it when the Stones do covers, especially of old blues songs. I could go for a full set of those anyday.

Yeah but some of those covers are so much a part of the band's oeuvre now or so radically re-worked "Imagination" from the original that, aside from not writing the lyrics, they're as much of a Stones song as many oftheir originals. It's not like they're rolling out one tour add ons like Love Train or Get Up, Stand Up.These covers have been concert staples on various tours for decades.

There are so many real trademark Stones-songs by Jagger-Richards I rather would hear live than Love Train, I'll Go Crazy and others that they haven't recorded in the studio.
But it's okay for me with Imagination, That's How Strong...
And a dream in that case would be Cry To Me!

It was a long wait tonight and the weather was not on our side. Finally they speeded into a blues, impossible to tell what it was. Then "Let It Bleed" and lots more interesting stuff. I will make the complete list later on.

The real goosebumps part arrived later, with "STREET FIGHTING MAN". It was played like it was the final song of thee night, an amazing powerful version, where Charlie did so hard and intense drumming I was sure they would have to carry him to the car. I walked over to the gate, preparing myself to say goodnight. Meanwhile they rushed into "You Got Me Rocking".

OK so they were not finsished by far, because the best was yet to come. SWAY. Some testing of the intro, then they were into it and I was glued to the fence. The Mick Taylor solo hit me right into the heart. It was short but there is quality and quantity. It tasted so good I can't wait until the first show of the tour with that solo.

One More Shot is back, two takes, and it is there, just as they did it when we were the lucky 32 fans to attend the rehearsals of the very same song last time they were in Paris.

All in all, a great night, wet, yes, cold yes, but emotional, powerful and a great memory. Thanks to the Stones and all my friends who I met up with tonight.

Thanks for the report,bv. Keep 'em coming!

Maybe they're pissed of by the bad weather. In Doha it's 23 degrees and sun now.

Taylor is a bit of a grouch towards fans by all accounts, a mate of mine went to see him play a few years before the Stones re-discovered him and he refused to even have a quick chat with the few fans who paid. Just scowled and told them to f**** off.

It´s not a part of the deal to get a meet and greet with the artist everytime you pay to see a concert? That´s for him to decide smiling smiley
He didn't deal well with fame in his first round as a Stone. It is the fans that put him back on the stage this time around. I certainly hope these reports are exaggerated but I will mention outside The Cutting Room, Ronnie was really cool, signed a few, gave a wave and a smile, Taylor just rushed through the crowd without any acknowledgment...

I tried to phone to my friend Mickjerome who is in Bondy.
His cell phone is closed.
May be some happy few are inside the rehearsals?

Maybe he wants not to be disturbed to follow the rehearsed songs, maybe the battery of the cell phone is empty .... or any other reason.

Quote from [rockerparis.blogspot.fr]:

"Even someone working at the studio told the fans outside that there was no way that the Stones will let fans in like they did last year as there were too many people !!!"

Of course they are, DP is right. Maybe this is the best way for Mick T. to stay healthy. For someone who is shy and reserved, the fans pressing around would be very stressful. Ronnie, on the other hand, is a true extrovert. He seems to get his energy from being around others and all that adoration is like candy to him.
