From Mick's blog:

The band will treat their generations of fans to a set packed full of classic Stones hits such as “Gimme Shelter”, “Paint It Black”, “Jumping Jack Flash”, “Tumbling Dice” and “It’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll”, combined with lesser known gems, plus a couple of unexpected cover versions.

What unexpected cover versions?

Keith doing My Way? cool smiley

Good one.

What about: Ain't to proud to beg, It's all over now, Just my imagination and Love In Vain - it's not their own, but cover versions.

I'd love to have heard that they had done little queenie just one more time. That steady hypnotic thumping groove - better than chuck I think. But I suppose it would be a bit ridiculous for Mick at 70 to be singing about 17 year old girls.

Can you hear Mick Taylor in fact playing? I mean how can you hear Mick Taylor on guitar when you are outside the rehearsals site while it is raining, there are trucks, trains and other fans talking a lot. I get this question all the time, so I have to explain.

When I was in Burbank for the Los Angeles rehearsals last year in April, it was hard to hear what they played. But then they did "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", and from the moment Mick Taylor was playing his part I knew for sure he was there and playing.

Same in Paris when Mick Taylor arrived Friday one week ago. You can easily hear his unique style and playing. Nobody would copy that style. Theoreticallly yes but that would be a copycat and neither Ronnie nor Keith are copycats.

I will publish my detailed notes from rehearsal soon.

To tell the truth Satisfaction live is not my favourite. I prefer other warhorses like JJF or SFM as a final encore. They just can't play it as good as the fantastic original 1965 recording.

Satisfacion was fantastic in -69 tour, also ok in -81/82 tours, after that has not been very good IMO.

My impression is that the rehearsal-list this time contains more ballads and slower songs than before previous tours.

Good point. They're rarely going to play more than about one ballad per show (in Mick's set anyway). There are a few songs in that genre which are more likely to be rotated in and out of one slot in the average setlist. Likewise with the deeper cuts that theyve tried out like 'Silver Train'. I'd expect the regular warhorses to be played every night (although its interesting they havent rehearsed 'Satisfaction') with two or three spots in the show plus Keith's set(as was the case in the US) for what shake-ups they'll chose to try out.

Worth remembering too that there are no multiple night stands on this tour apart from Tokyo, and that most of the shows are a long distance from each other, so there will be fewer repeat attendees than normal as well as more 'first timers' than usual. Therefore, less obligation on the band's part to diversify things too much.

A false start on rehearsal may mean that one of the musicians wasn't quite ready as well.

It doesn't necessarily mean it was played wrongly smiling smiley

If there's going to be three guitars on stage for the final song again, something like SFM makes a lot more sense than Satisfaction, which is basically a Keith victory lap. Not sure about this go around, but we know last year they rehearsed it with all three playing.

"Satisfacion was fantastic in -69 tour, also ok in -81/82 tours, after that has not been very good IMO"

Rollingon, it's funny how all of us love or dislike different parts of the Stones. To me, "Satisfaction" was just decent in '69 and it was almost ...horrible in 1981-82! I do prefer a lot of after versions, especially from Voodoo Lounge and Licks Tours.

That's great news they let some fans into rehearsals. Hope it was the ones that spent so many hours outside, and hopefully they got to witness some special songs played. Cheers.
