Rolling Stones live these days is the Mick and Chuck show and nobody cares
Unbelievable.
You just like dates, facts and figures, scarf's and clothes and all things balanced without offending anyone
i cant take any more of this
Its ocd gone wild
Nothing can draw you into a serious adult conversation about anything Rolling Stones

Ahh, but that is always the way of the world, young riffhards.

It's sometimes easier to take refuge in statistics ('cause they never lie!) and humor than it is to have "a serious adult conversation."

I took a break from this website for a while because of a stupid remark by someone who had completely misinterpreted my post; I'm sure you've had similar experiences which have dissuaded you from participating.

The "fact" is that most of the discussion on this--or any--fan board are based on opinion, anecdote, passion, etc. There's no accounting for tastes. They can differ significantly from person to person.

You might think "Amnesia" is brilliant, a harbinger of a classic album to come. I might think it's a swampy groove that's cool but more of a sketch than a song, with Keith's trademark weak vocals and not a bridge or a chorus in sight. Doesn't mean one or the other of us is right; though one of our points of view may have more "followers" here than the other.

You might think that Keith is constantly deferring to Mick when it comes to what The Stones do, how they play, what they choose to record, etc. I might think that if that is true then Keith's a pussy for not being able to stand up to Mick. They guy who threatened an Angel at Altamont is afraid of Mick Jagger? Unlikely. But who knows which of us is right?

You might think that Keith is the more talented musician and the better songwriter between the two of them. I might respond that I honestly don't care which of them is "better;" I care more about the fact that neither one of them, together or apart, has written a decent song in decades. You could be totally right and I could be wrong. Who knows?

I guess it comes down to the way we phrase things, how relatively unpopular our opinions are in the context of the rest of the board, how respectful we are of each others' right to have an opinion and to express it in public. Those are some of the hallmarks of "a serious adult conversation," as far as I'm concerned. They're not easy to have, especially on a fan board on the internet!

This is some first-rate handwringing here.

What is truth?confused smiley

Very well said my friend. Your whole post actually, but this last paragraph is particularly prudent. It's one thing to dispute facts but opinions are unimpeachable and although there are grey areas, it all comes down to respect and maturity in how we choose to respond to each other.

what I find interesting on this board is that humans tend to want to create a competition where there is none, why isn't it okay for mick and keith and everyone to be okay as they are just being themselves. Why does there need to be a conflict where there is nnone that is reasonably apparent???? I think people devolve into bickering and whining when they do not know what is going on. its a control thing. humans always have to be "my team is best" "my man is best" etc. its pretty dumb imo. let a thousand flowers bloom~!

I'm just disappointed that Keith may be giving up something creative and new, like a solo tour, so Mick can make more millions
Another Stones tour is just more of the same.
I am done with the same old show over and over and over again

I agree. A Keith tour would be a best case scenario. Closely behind it of course would be the rumored wyman/Taylor stones cover band. Last place would be mick doing a gig at the belly up where he performs she's the boss in its entirety.

The Beatles vs stones debate was declared over a couple months ago. Something about McCartney jamming with the surviving members of nirvana while the stones jammed with ... Well you get the picture and it ain't pretty. Anyway, this is why stones fans are so grumpy. The Beatles fans can be heard partying next door.

Some worldwide sales for the solo works:

She's The Boss (2,5 worldwide, 1.3 m US)
Primitive Cool (800-850k worldwide, 300-350k US)
Talk is Cheap (900k - 1 m worldwide, 600-650k US)
Hollywood Palladium (150-200k worldwide, 60k US)
Main Offender (400-500k worldwide, 250k US)
Wandering Spirit (2.2 - 2.3 m worldwide, +1 m Europe, 500k US)
Goddess In The Doorway (1.3 m worldwide, +500k Europe, 350k US)
Alfie soundtrack (150-200k worldwide, 80k US)
Best Of MJ (200-250k worldwide, 60k US)
Vintage Winos (20k US)
Superheavy (550-600k worldwide, 250-300k Europe, 140k US)

In other words, Mick has sold WAY MORE solo albums than Keith has. Around 7.7 million for Mick and 1.4 million for Keith. She's the Boss sold twice as much as Talk is Cheap and Wandering Spirit sold 5 times as many copies as Main Offender.

True; but MJ has WAY more albums released as well - 7 titles, of which (only) one is a compilation; whereas Keith has only 4 titles - one being a compilation, and 1 a live album (both being somewhat 'rehashing' already circulating material; therefor lower on sales than releasing new/ original material).

But at 5 to 1, MJ has 'the knockout punch' here. smoking smiley

So some videos to accompany a few songs and maybe a one off studio type live recording is the most we can expect
What a missed opportunity
Maybe Keith does not realise how many people would love to see him live
I mean he cant go wrong
If he totally bummed out and turned up pissed and messed it all up it would still be Keith god damn it
People would still say he was brilliant just for standing there
Dude cant go wrong
Maybe its too much of a headache for him to organise a tour
Jane Rose does all that though, so what's the problem

So it must be a new album
All is not lost then if Keith's album has got Mick back in the studio
But come on, who wants another Stones album like the last 3

Ok they are all good but we want brilliant not good from the Stones
