What date was the Big Party? Interesting as Bruce Springsteen is on Tour in Europe right now. He just finished up a Concert in the Netherlands a few hours ago. I doubt he would fly back between Concerts to attend a one night Party.

You can place this in early to mid April when we know all those involved were in L.A..

I checked on Nico's "time is on our side" and no mention of the party yet. It probably took place during the rehearsals for the US Tour.

I apologize if this has already been addressed, but if Paul doesn't make a guest appearance in LA, would it be safe to assume that his presence at tour rehearsals was for a recording session?

Paul McCartney’s first five post-Beatles albums are being issued as Japanese mini-LP SHM-CDs (paper-sleeve vinyl replica, Archive Collection mastering, no bonus tracks):

I thought this comment on superdeluxe was quite good...

Since this is being produced by Mercury Studios is seems more than likely that a Blu-ray/DVD release will follow. Even though, as noted, this was filmed on video, it has been scanned and restored to 4K although that seems rather pointless since the new clip of Band on the Run (above) confirms that a 4K restoration of dodgy video still looks like dodgy video.

I have to wonder what Peter Jackson would make of it though!

Probably not much, since it's barely possible to restore the missing details from a low-res video recording (e.g. NTSC 720x480px). On the other hand, analogue 35- or 70mm film can be scanned up to 10K resolution (10240x4320px).

I wish folks realised that the same principals apply with Digital sound !

The original "Let It Be" was filmed on 16mm. I've watched the Rooftop Concert segment on an IMAX screen, and that was very clear indeed.

So how does 16mm compare with the video recording here?

Dunno, but the 2024 restored version of the 1970 'Let It Be' movie is available in 4K resolution (3840x2160px). Video recordings are typically just 720x480px (NTSC) or 768x576px (PAL) resolution.

Paul McCartney Surprises With Andrew Watt, Chad Smith

Beatles legend guested during intimate show at Hamptons venue Stephen Talkhouse

When he’s not on tour or in the studio, 82-year-old Paul McCartney can often be found relaxing in glitzy New York beach enclave the Hamptons, where he’s owned a home for decades.

Last night (Aug. 20), the Beatles legend didn’t have to travel far to make a surprise onstage appearance at the tiny Amagansett venue Stephen Talkhouse during a show by friend and producer Andrew Watt and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, singing raucous versions of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” and the Beatles’ “I Saw Her Standing There” amid shrieks of delight from the crowd.

Watt and Smith were joined by longtime session guitarist and Saturday Night Live band member G.E. Smith as well as a horn section. Watt’s girlfriend Charlotte Lawrence also got in on the fun and grabbed a mic to sing with McCartney during “Rockin’ in the Free World.”

Watt will reportedly be involved in an upcoming McCartney album project, although details remain scant. The pair previously worked together on the Rolling Stones’ album Hackney Diamonds, which Watt produced and for which McCartney guested on the song “Bite My Head Off.”

McCartney will return to the road Oct. 1 in Montevideo, Uruguay, and will tour South America through mid-November. A run of European and U.K. shows begins Dec. 4 in Paris and wraps Dec. 18-19 at the O2 in London.

Andrew Watt is the man.

So far the only positive album I've seen him involved with was Eddie Vedder's Earthling. Wouldn't recommend either of the albums he produced for Ozzy, Pearl Jam's new record, the Stones or Iggy Pop.

Can't say he'd be the culprit if he produced McCartney's next record as I don't think he's really had a good album since Chaos and Creation 20 years ago.

Chaos and Creation was a great album. I suspect that would be the last epic. Or maybe?

Same. Dark matter is pearl jam’s best album in years, same as Hackney diamonds for the stones. Earthling I find a bit uneven

Looking forward to whatever watt does with McCartney

Andrew Watt produced and co-wrote the new Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga song which is on track to debut at Top 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 next week, he's on top of the music industry.

Memory Almost Full is a great album all the way through, and I'll stand by that opinion. New and Egypt Station are also very good albums.

I have no problem with the production on the 2 Ozzy records, they sound just fine. It's the songwriting that's the problem - and yes, AW did co-write both of those albums. I miss the days when Ozzy's BAND would write the music and the producer would stick to producing.

That's the exact problem with the albums he's involved in. He's way more than just the man who's pushing the button. He's the reason the albums are as bland as they are. Ozzy being a million doesn't help, but Watt approves it and does a lot of the heavy lifting. He gets very involved, and I haven't seen it been for the better.

Can McCartney really be this popular, to the point of there being no f f f f furking tickets to be had for any of his European gigs whatsoever. Absolutely everything appears to be mega sold out ! I don't know if it genuinely is of course, perhaps the scalpers have hoovered everything up, but there is precisely furk all for sale on the on the TM resale site. I know what people are gonna say about TM, but I'm buggered if I'm going to take an interest in the likes of Viagogo, Stubhub, Gigsberg, to mention but a few of the worst offenders.

A third party wants to join my friend and I (who were lucky enough to get tickets), so if anyone either has a spare for the Madrid show on 10th December, or knows someone who has, could you post it here and/or drop me an email, my address is not hidden.

Thank you

Here's a professionally shot October 5, 2024 show from Buenos Aires free on YouTube for some reason. Paul is still killing it out there. It's rather impressive imho.
