Should be good.Watching it in Spain and although Rod comes over on camera to me as shallow, hoping he really isn't like that.
Ronnie appears the same............at times, but deep down I reckon he's a nice bloke. winking smiley

Rod, the older Rod, always looks unhealthy to me. he looks like he is going to explode any minute.

Rod tries to appear to be a "normal bloke from humble beginnings" but after reading his bio, I think he is extremely materialistic, very jealous and competitive, not fond of Mick & Keith for " stealing Ronnie", and a real jackass with blonde women....notice I said BLONDE women...you're SAFE if you're a brunette or redhead. He is not that carefree, lovely guy that you'd invite to your party....as a matter of fact, you would want to nail down your TV so it wouldn't end up in the pool...very juvenile sense of humor!

I've always liked Rod. The scenes with Ron in the doc are great. Obviously great mates still.

EVERYBODY who makes it in the music business, including obviously our boys, is materialistic, jealous, competitive, egotistical, etc. etc., , , , It is why they are successful. Most also are a jackass with blonde women. The successful women are jackasses with blonde men.

I met Rod and the Faces early on in their career. Always enjoyed their gigs.
Ran into Rod in various "incarnations" of his fame...

I'd like to say here that when the chips were down Rod Stewart came through bigtime for Long John Baldry, who'd given him his first singing gig. Everyone knew Baldry. Everyone felt sad a few years ago when Baldry was dying a long, painful death. It was Rod who'd didn't just say, "what a shame."

He stepped in and saw to it that Baldry was given the finest care and Rod paid all the bills so that Baldry could be as comfortable as was possible. BIG bills.

FYI, Rod sought no publicity for his good deed.

I'll always respect Rod for producing Side 1 of Long John Baldry's "It Ain't Easy," especially the song "Don't Try to Lay No Boogie Woogie on the King of Rock & Roll." Rod had talent that he let go to waste.

This documentary was the only highlight of my recent flight delay . . . I saw the Faces at least a dozen times (big venues, tiny clubs, big festivals, tiny festivals, radio studios), and never had less than a rocking good time.

There's a letter in the August issue of MOJO written by someone not entirely not me, which references both the Stones and the mayhem to be enjoyed at early Faces gigs . . .

I've got a boot of Truth era Jeff Beck from a bar in Houston with Rod & Ronnie. Stunning. 1 of those what might've been deals.

Rod Stewart paid Ronnie Lane's medical bills, too. I think Ron Wood helped. I saw the Faces a few times in the '70s. Loved them. When it came time for a album from Rod or the faces as a fan you were in for treat. A lot of Rod's solo songs were recorded with the Faces. This is one reason Ronnie Lane left the group. It was inevitable that Wood would join the Stones. Seeing the faces in the early '70s was like seeing them in your living room. The last tour was a sad affair. The spark was gone. I saw them in Atlanta, one of their last shows. This was the tour with the Orchestra. Jessie Ed Davis was on second guitar, along with Bobby Womack. Great show, but it was not the Faces of old. They knew it was over. They just went through the motions. Oddly enough, Jeff Beck was one of the opening acts. The other group was Aerosmith. Jeff Beck came out and played "The Train Kept Rolling" with them.

His show in Vegas was fun. Seemed like he was enjoying it. Fantastic acoustic set in the middle (Reason to Believe, etc.).

When I first knew this story, I saw Rod in a new light.smiling smiley

Incidentally, Rod and Elton coproduced this album to repay Baldry.

Rod should have summoned Ronnie to play on his latest CD which is a total bore . Awful prodution which lacks the use of an electric guitar. Sappy lyrics makes this his worst effort to date IMO.

Summer 2013
DURATION: 1 HOUR, 25 MINUTES
From beatnik to mod, from folkie to disco tart, from glam rocker to, most recently, crooner of American standards, Rod Stewart has had a remarkable musical journey. Alan Yentob visits Rod at his homes in Beverly Hills and Essex and talks to his friends and family, including all eight children aged from two years old to 50.

Featuring rare archival footage of Rod when he was barely out of his teens and living above his parents' north London sweetshop, lmagine examines an entertaining career across five musical decades

Very interesting show. I don't have the new album, but it's nice that he's writing again, and that it hit number 1 in the UK.

I believe this was his first ever solo concert or at least solo concert tour. Is it the Earl's Court show?
