I just called Staples Center box office and here's the scoop...Will call windows open at 6:00. They don't have production notes yet so no info regarding an opening act. $85 tix were set aside and pre-determined at the time of purchase, so it doesn't matter if you're first in line at will call or not. Your fate has already been decided. They could not confirm if people who got through the purchasing system early drew better seats than those you bought later. Bottom line is hope for the best and just be happy you're at a Rolling Stones arena show for such a cheap price.

That's true of a few venues. Second chance simply meant after they took down the $85 links at rs.com and replaced them with "SOLD OUT".

Just called Staples Center box office out of curiosity and was told that seats are determined the day of the show. Guess we'll have more answers on the process Friday. No one seems to give a consistent answer for now.

Obviously most important is The Rolling Stones first date of the 2013 tour.

Next is where these $85 tix are allocated.

Hopefully we will find out where fans managed to see the gig from, and their reviews.

Not so sure that unless there was specific "insider" info, that one could state
so matter of fact that these are ticket sale related.

Pretty common for there to be more seats available day of show (or a couple days before) once "production is loaded in".

Nice of them to make them available to the fans at the reduced cost.

I'm sure they planned on a 2nd drop all along as one last kind gesture to a few hardcore fans in each market to get them into what were presumed to be essentially sold out shows.

I can't imagine they'll flood the market with too many $85 tickets as the promoters will still lose their shirts if the "guaranteed" figures are to be believed. They'll attempt to find a way to fill the higher end seats - maybe drop some prices, 2 for 1s, etc.

The face value of the $85s are closer to $70, just do the math, that's a lot of seats to get into the seven figures.

I think the $85 tickets were originally something to save face and potentially boost sales of the 'real' tickets. Instead, the market has actually spoken. GREAT seats are available for ALL shows. If I had $1200 + flight + hotel + time to do so, I could attend every single concert starting this very second.

This is UNPRECEDENTED.

I would venture that all arenas except for Vegas are between 40-60% sold, and that might be conservative. We know that everything below 200 is sold out at all shows. Many $250s are sold out, but some still available. $450s are available in limited quatity as a few shows. And TONS of $600 seats are available at all price levels and tons of sections in all venues.

I really hope these $85 tickets are all over the place in the venue, and not just in the heavens behind the stage.

AEG will continue to explore ways to make a profit on this tour, whether that happens or not we will all know soon enough. $70 bucks a throw vs. other means of doing this like dropping $450s to $250s and available pit area to $600 from $1,500 is more likely. The market doesn't bear the current pricing model, but it certainly exceeds $85 a ticket by a long shot. They also have to show some consideration for the whales who paid big bucks already, do not want to lose their future business. Time will tell...

The casinos will sweep in soon and hoover up all the tickets to comp their idiots guests. Maybe they get bulk discounts from the Stones. I've tried to scalp (i.e. buy) at the venue a couple of times and it was always tough.

None of the above, obviously, applies to the other cities. And the Stones (i.e. Mick) have flunked ECON 101, supply and demand. AEG is just in it for the, ahem, prestige, and a portion of the beer sales.

No no, Vegas is NOT sold out but it is the smallest venue and one of the more wanted venues on the tour. Vegas prices are always stupid expensive, so they can get away with it there, so to speak. Right now you can pull up tons of seats, but LESS of them as compared to Chicago/etc...

So Vegas is probably in the 50-70% range in terms of tickets sold. This is all speculation based on what is currently available.

Yeah... I have a bad feeling that 2/3 of that arena (Anaheim on the 15th) is gonna be $85 lottery seats. oh well... bought another $450 seat so guess I'll just take the best I get...

Agree with pretty much everything in this thread. This sounds like a textbook case of dumping unsold tickets to me; why would they only notify you on the day of the show if they didn't want to sell them at higher prices before that?

I've got to say I'm surprised at the scale of the flop this time round. It's not like they're playing stadiums and trying to shift a million plus seats. The shows last year were a trial run at testing whether the market would bear this pricing and they concluded that on a limited scale it would. I would have tended to agree.

Anyway, as I've said before, as childish and spiteful as it is, I'm delighted to see AEG take a hit. Their absolute amatuerism has form in the Jackson fiasco where they sold 50 shows while only insuring 10. If ever there was an obvious high risk that man was it. On the minus side it doesn't bode well for future tours but I don't think anything more than a limited run round the world ending with a final show in London was really on the cards anyway.

How are they going to personally escort all the $85 ticket buyers to their seats if 30-50% of the crowd winds up being that type of ticket, which requires a personal escort? It sounds like either very long lines and a lot of waiting, or they're not going to bother with the extra ushering in the end, or maybe only for people that get the GA seats towards the stage.

They will be escorted into the arena, not to their seats, presumably with the help of barricades from the ticket window to the door.
