How are they going to personally escort all the $85 ticket buyers to their seats if 30-50% of the crowd winds up being that type of ticket, which requires a personal escort? It sounds like either very long lines and a lot of waiting, or they're not going to bother with the extra ushering in the end, or maybe only for people that get the GA seats towards the stage.

In the end, if ticket sales remain off, they will leave a lot of seats unsold vs. dropping a boat load of $85 tickets. There will be some, but that industry will not want to set a precedent like that for Blue Chip acts. " Just wait until a week before the show and tickets to _________ will be cheap and plentiful."

The next big tours will take stock of the AEG/Stones overreach, make some adjustments.

I suspect there will be a lot of conversations like this day of show at ticket window: " The $85 seats are gone, but I have a great pair of $250s in the lower loge." Some will walk away, others will pull out the plastic and say " I didn't spend 2 hrs in the car not to go, here ya go."

They will be escorted into the arena, not to their seats, presumably with the help of barricades from the ticket window to the door.

That doesn't sound very practical, because the ticket windows in most venues are well outside the venue and there can still be scalping taking place. Not to mention conflicting with the other people, who already have tickets, who are getting in.

At the Oakland Arena, for instance, the box office is located well outside the arena, between the arena and the neighboring baseball stadium, with a number of outside stairways leading to numerous doors outside and then inside the arena. The conditions make it sound like an escort will take ticket holders, perhaps in gathered groups, from the will call area to the seating area they're assigned to. That seems do-able when they only had 1,000 ticket holders for the $85 seats. If there are a lot, not so much. Maybe it will be the case they'll only release another 500 or so of the $85 seats per venue, and just leave a lot of seats unsold and empty, to protect ticket prices in future as well as for practical reasons.

When I saw Springsteen last November in Portland it was all "ticketless tickets" for the good seats. Basically they had people in the lower bowl head to the regular entrances of the arena, where they had a handheld little gizmo that scanned your credit card. The ticket-taker then took a peek at your ID and printed out white pater receipts that had your seat information on it, which they handed to you as you went through the turnstile.

Interesting that NOW they specifically state that "Only one pair per valid I.D". Perhaps that was the plan all along. First batch of 85 dollar tickets, no limit. Now that there's a smaller amount of them available, limit.

That was always the intention. It was clear to anyone who was not trying to exploit the system, or buy for other people. I am very sympathetic to folks who want to buy for their whole family, but the pairs are individual. You are not guaranteed to sit with your family, so everyone is supposed to buy individual pairs.

"Duplicate" orders are being cancelled, so the two ticket limit was in place from the outset, nebulous Ticketmaster language or not.

This latest update makes that explicitly clear.

Any instances noted other than Anaheim and Philly (on Comcast system)? Maybe they are making the correction for additional pairs that will be purchased. Other than Anaheim, I haven't heard of tickets being cancelled. Philly cancelled orders but, their ticket limit of 2 was explicitly defined. Ticketmaster's was somewhat implied.

I can't see them cancelling orders when the 2 ticket limit was not explicitly defined. Also, that wouldn't help them fill the arena.

I'm still somewhat surprised that Anaheim orders were cancelled. Did anyone contact TM when their additional order(s) was cancelled?

ComcastTix Philly page included the 2 ticket per person limit for "Gimme Shelter Seats"

Hmmmmm. Based on the Vegas poster's experience, calling attention to it is not a good idea. I've talked to several reps with all of them saying it will be fine but, mixed responses have been widely reported.

As far as I know, Anaheim is the only one (besides Philly) that seems to have had mass order cancellations.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any confusion between the offer and the posted ticket limit.

Due to the strict anti-scalping measures the promoter is implementing, the tickets for this particular offer will only be sold in pairs, and limited to two per household. You and your guest will need to arrive at the arena together to pick these tickets up, and will be escorted inside upon arrival.

We hope this helps! If you have any additional questions, just reply to this email or visit Ticketmaster.com, or RollingStones.com/tickets

Sincerely,
Ashley

I have two $85 pairs for Vegas, purchased using two different credit cards and mailing address but the same name on the cards.

My wife and I are driving from Phoenix with some friends, if they hassle us I'm going to be pretty hacked off, they can escort us in together but I have to claim both pairs of tickets as they are my credit cards.

The Grand Garden Arena phone is off the hook, been busy for days now.

I think we will be fine.....what do you all think?

I hate to not give the answer you dont want, but I am betting you will have issues. Look at it from their point view. You buy 2 sets, you use on pair and scalp the other pair, there is no way they know these are really your friends. Be braced to have issues.

There is still a solution though.... tell your freinds to sign up for the currently being offered $85.00 tickets, and then turn in one of your pair for a refund, from what I have read here, people have gotten refunds.

Please dont yell at me. You asked us what we think, and I replied with good intent to maybe solve this before you get there.... you dont need that day of show stress.

I would see what happens Friday. If they are problems, people will share them. If you didn't receive a cancellation notice, I think you will be ok.

You couldn't scalp the tickets without knowing the location. How would you determine the value without a location? I can understand a 2 ticket limit to ensure multiple people have best chance possible but, at this point the Stones could use all the warm bodies they can get for their unsold seats.

Everyone that I've personally talked to at ticketmaster said tickets had to be bought in pairs to make it tougher to get multiple pairs. Eight ticket limit. Other than they had to be bought in pairs, what else suggests a two ticket per household limit?

The tickets are worth at least $150.00 each, which is what the lowest price, worst seat in the house, sells for, these seats will be equal to or better than that. If scalping was allowed these tickets would/might sell for at least that, maybe, unless I am missing something.

But it is a GREAT point that he might as well wait until Saturday or Sunday for reports to come out about how it all works.... btw- depending on how many of the $85.00 tickets wind up in awesome location (like the pit) they could be worth more... IF they allowed scalping.

Yeah, that's true. I think they are worth at least $ 150 but, I know I wouldn't commit any amount of money on the secondary market for a TBD ticket. I think not knowing the location until you get into the areana, really takes the scalping option off the table. You might be able to sell it for a floor price but, having to go straight into the arena you couldn't say to the buyer "hey I know you paid me $ 150 but, that's a pit ticket, I'm going to need an extra $ 1,000". The buyer's going to take the ticket and say "see ya" or you'll end losing both tickets over a pricing debate.

In theory, you can scalp these tickets but, in application, probably a lot more difficult.

I hate to the bearer of bad news but, I just talked to the manager of the Staples Center Box Office. They are enforcing a two ticket limit per household. I would imagine the other locations will be as well. Even if you don't receive a cancellation from Ticketmaster, this doesn't bode well at all for those with multiple pairs.

We'll find out for sure in a couple days............ sad smiley

I reckon you're gonna be fine.

It has been at the best ,dubious from the start of this AEG fiasco, with the 2 tix or 8 tix thing.

They are not going to turn away paid ticketholders, and having empty seats instead.

I guess folks that have multiple pairs in their name and promises to other folks that they can use them might want to get ahold of the other people and tell them whats up. It is not your fault, you did your part. Of course it might still work, but if it was me, I would tell people "Sorry, thought I could help you, but they are using proper anti scalping methods, and if you want to go, then go sign up at">> [www.aeglive.com]
