Mick Jagger in studio with Joe Walsh
Posted by: Pie1 ()
Date: March 7, 2013 07:58

Saw a couple of tweets from bassist Tal Wilkenfeld : - 'Usual day at the office... ya know, recording with Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr & Joe Walsh.'

- 'Gr8 fun recordin today with @JoeWalsh @kebmomusic @rrtfb @akadrjohn ,Jim Keltner & Mike Finnigan! Don Was producing.Dunno who is now! Lol'

I think they're Dr. John sessions.

Ah, Dr. John! Saw him in New Orleans at the Warehouse during one Mardi Gras! Now there's a party.

Yeah, let's get Tal Wilkenfeld and Ringo Starr and Joe Walsh to take some time out of their lives to leave their home, make travel arrangements, and come to the studio to "test out some songs for the Stones" eye rolling smiley What does that even mean, testing songs?

Tal is a wonderful bassist; her work with Jeff Beck is brilliant.

I don't know why Mac has resorted to Don Was as a producer. He did exceedingly well with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys on Locked Down.

Which studio?

Somewhere in LA, or thereabouts.

Robert Randolph's tweeted some pictures from the sessions, but none with Mick.

Why can't Mick just get Keith, Charlie, Bill and Ron in a room with some bean bags, a toy drum kit and a cassette recorder?

Mick wouldn't dare copy Keith's ideas...

So instead of, for example, simply recording a demo at his house on a simple digital recorder, Mick decides to call Ringo Starr and Joe Walsh and Tal Wilkenfeld to a studio to record some demos for The Stones, as if they have nothing better to do. But hey, believe what you want smiling smiley Sweet dreams!

I'm surprised that JumpinJackOLantern hasn't jumped on this thread as proof of Mick's plans to replace the Stones at the end of the year. A Beatle, An Eagle, A Stone & A MONSTER bass player... It'll be the biggest thing since Superheavy for sure!!!

Sarcasm aside, I think I'd like to hear the results of this session more than I want to listen to SHII... Maybe I should label that as SH2...

Peace,
Mr DJA

Tal is an awesome bass player. Didn't know who she was until I bought the Beck DVD Live at Ronnie Scotts (I think that's the name). I wonder if Mick first met her when he hosted SNL last year since she played bass on the blues song he did with Jeff on the show?

Yeah Gumboot...Mick often runs song ideas and demos past Ringo before bringing them to the group. A tradition that goes back to the early 60s.

You can check, it's on Wikipedia.

Thursdays in the office are usually pretty mellow. Like today... when I wrote a song with Bill Withers, Mick Jagger, Keb Mo & Joe Walsh. LOL
