Mick and Keith as a songwriting team, just can't come up with a decent song now.
They have had 'songwriters blank', since about 2002 when they wrote Don't Stop.
Nothing that I realy like or memorable since then.
The creative side of him thinks it will happen again with other songwriters.
It hasn't happened yet. eye rolling smiley

Good point.
Wish I thought of that. Maybe 10 hits by Doom And Gloom lover/liker = about 7,100 people or is it 71,000.I hope my maths is O.K.
Not that many anyway. spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Yep, that's views. And that many views makes the song pretty memorable, doesn't it? Doesn't matter if you don't like it, Crawdaddy...

I wanna hear Mick sing 'Rocky Mountain Way'.

This song lacks a decent sleazy lead guitar a la Mick Taylor. So at least 20% of the songwriting is not there.

10x wrong assuming 10 views per person

I'm not overkeen on it as a Rolling Stones single at all.
Brown Sugar,Angie,Satisfaction,Paint it Black,Sympathy,Gimme Shelter,JJF and many more old WarHorses are amongst my faves,

As long as they get some good album tracks in the setlists and vary it much more I'll be happy.
Not the latest, with Doom and Gloom,'cos that's what the album is in my opinion. smoking smiley

Could be 71 million people if everyone had their friends and families with them when they watched.

Oh No !!!
That is too much Doom and Gloom.
Even the title is depressing.
71 million people thinking that is a good song.

In fact it fills me with Doom and Gloom.
I think I'll go back to bed. eye popping smiley

Could be 710 million people if each one of the views happened at a small nightclub, seating for say, 100.

A million times better than the "Mull of Kintyre" and "Ebony and Ivory" crap a certain very belowed person released some years ago.

Better or not is subjective, but ""Ebony and Ivory" was a legitimate "hit" and "Mull of Kintyre" was extraordinarily popular (excepting the US where stations made the mistake of opting for the other A Side /flipside of the single "Girls School" ). There is no room for comparison to "Doom and Gloom" commercially.

I suppose I should add that I like Gloom and Doom well enough as a novelty - thought it was better than "One More Shot" at least, which, while more recognizably Stones sound, is really pure filler.

Is that Bill Withers on the left in the big pic? He's not on the mixing desk notes though, odd.

That's Keb Mo.

Joe Walsh posted a picture with Bill Withers later that same day.

“Just The Two Of Us!” Honor to have Bill Withers in the studio.

Tal's hair looks like extensions on Joe's - nice optical illusion.

Whew that was scary. I glance at the photo, and saw the BB King shirt completely different: as an alienkind of face. the crease across his throat would be the mouth; the right jaw is the nose; the shading by sideburns is right eye, and the rest is alien stuff. Sorry BB; it was just for s split second.

Anyone who watched "Still Bill" knows that Bill Withers is currently enjoying retirement and anyone who was in the studio with him recently should have felt honored to have him there because of it!

Hot Rocks is good choice with Brian in fine shape , same can be said about fx.:
2120 South Michigan Avenue ( Stones in the Chess studio in Chicago 1964 ) with a really crispy and clear sound in the new remixed and remasterd edition !

Once you've REALLY become acquainted with those two...give Jajouka a spin.

I hear Keith is busy in the studio as well now - with Doug Pettibone´s solo album (Lucinda Williams' guitarist) + Waddy.
