Who knows what tuning KR uses on Ya Ya's version of MR and where he puts the capo?? I think it's different than what he does these days.

Standard tuning, capo at 7th fret.

The Brussels version is one of the finest pieces of rock music I haver ever heard. I love this song. I forget about it sometimes and then listen to it and it is right up near the top of my favorites. I like the studi version but the Ya-Ya's version and Brussels are sublime. I also loved the version on the pay per view that was smoking. Great blues rock.

Same as today. However, the brilliant Ampeg sound is hard to replicate...

I love this version too:

Mamma Mia! I happen to be right at the moment in Positano. The pittoresque Amalfi Coast town in where Mick and Keith wrote this dark masterpiece. Odd to think them, Mick with harmonica and Keith with guitar, going through the song piece by piece in some of these cafes... The contrast is so huge!

Anyway, if this town is pittoresque, it is damn touristique as well. Sutely it was different back then when Mick and Keith visited the place.

It the time they teamed up with Mario Schifano and his connections.
In Positano, Schifano, MJ, KR and girlfriends were hosts of Franco Zeffirelli in his villa. The biography book of Mario Schifano covers their holiday pretty well.

Moreover, Schifano’s habits and attitudes are the main inspiration for the lyrics of Monkey Man, also written in Positano.

A lot of you must be very happy now. Midnight Rambler came into the setlist.
Maybe for me the live-version from Brussels 1973 was the best that I have heard.
What is your favorite played live Midnight Rambler?

Without question, for me, the version on Ya-Yas will always be the ultimate version.

Obviously.

And if I have to choose between NYC/MSG ‘69 (“Ya-Ya’s”) and Brussels ‘73, I’d go for the latter.

Of recent years, the Manchester 2018 version left me with a lasting impression. I was far back on the front stand, sitting on the opposite side facing the stage. And the instant MR finished, all the crowd around me rose to their feet altogether and sent big loud applause to the boys, in particular, Mick’s almost acrobatic performance.

I’ll never forget that.

Perth '73 version is idyllic! But I did enjoy every version with Mick Taylor during the 2O12 - 2O14 tour. They did Rambler up here in Toronto on the B-stage in 1999!!! (most people were sitting]. I look forward to hearing it again in Cleveland & Chicago! Yeaah!!!

Berlin my fave ronnie performance on rambler

Ya-Ya's and Brussels 73 are both excellent. Another 5 star version for me is Roundhouse 71, followed by Marquee 71.

Live at Leeds University 1971 is also a killer version and 1969 at Madison Square Gardens. This most recent version at Met Life was lit and my other favourite from recent memory was Amsterdam 2022

Both YaYa's and Brussels '73 versions are very good. When they still sounded rough and dangerous.

Saitama 2006 is an underrated version. Keith really wound back the clock on that one!

The best are with Mick Taylor , just like Street Fighting Man .But other songs like Honky Tonk Women and Tumbling Dice are better live with Wood

I still think the studio original is the best version as it has a menace, from that Jagger yelp in the first few seconds that sounds like he's just dropped down a bottomless pit to

But live, nothing beats Ya-Yas or Brussels 73.

I did think the 1st Hyde Park version in 2022 was one of the best in recent years with Mick bringing in the Come On In My Kitchen bit in the middle -

Brussels 73 is the Stones ultimate moment in live history, by any band.

I also love the 1975 versions with Wood and Ollie Brown, and the sleaziest Jagger and Richards. Fantastic.
